It’s comforting to see other people in the same boat! I’ve been a nervous wreck for weeks now!
I’m on a 2nd mortgage application with new broker after our first application fell through with Halifax and their valuation. New broker found and application going through with Nationwide.
Valuation carried out on 21/02, and now the waiting game to see if that is coming back ok. I’m hoping on an update tomorrow!
Reading through the previous posts it seems Nationwide are pretty good at providing updates?
Congrats to everyone who has their offer so far!0 -
We were expecting our offer on Friday however, the valuation seems to have done in a totally different property as they said it was built in the 1950's (a miracle considering it's a Georgian house) and has a two story extension... which must have been put up since our offer went in
So, currently incredibly stressed out waiting for NatWest to sort out another valuation, they have till end of play tomorrow, according to our broker who also happens to be on a course all day.

20/2/19 Mortgage offered!!!

Yippee!!!
For those who think that the process should be quick...I'm an example it's not always quick for various reasons!
We had an awesome team at L&C brokers, professional and can't fault them at all, did a brilliant job for us, every step of the way through various changes of prospective purchases in the last 5 months as we looked for our forever home.
Hoping the next steps won't be so laborious!!! Or nail-biting!!! Lol
That still seems quick to me :rotfl:
Oh and you are lucky with L&C - we had a dreadful experience with them, have put in a complaint and will never use them again.0 -
we exchanged last week, 5pm on thursday!! Im still at the nailbiting stage and will be till we get the keys next tuesday0
-
Just thought I'd join in as well
2nd Jan we engage our mortgage broker to see if we can start looking! we get AIP with a max lendable and off we go.
4th Jan the shock subsides and we started looking in earnest.
28th Jan we view a lovely 3 bed semi and note interest
29th Jan we get notified of our first ever closing date
1st Feb nail-biting times we're notified our offer has been submitted 3pm rolls round and closing time comes and goes...…. an hour after the closing time rolls by and we are both thinking well that's that then. 4:20pm we are notified we are outbid. Shock and sadness kicks in, but "what's for us wont go by us" so onwards we soldier.
2nd Feb we view the next house, it's a sad feeling we're getting as we walk round, it's across the road from the house we lost out on. it's a hard pass and onwards we go, surely the house for us it out there somewhere.
6,7,8th Feb we view 6 more house still not getting the feeling, or a desire to buy any of them, onwards we go. "It is out there I promise."
11th Feb we view another cracker, home report looks good, (a single 2) we love it, so off we go again. But there's a spanner in the works a 2nd stunner comes on the market. We get a late viewing, wow now we're in a quandry!!! which one to go for. We spend the next 4 hours writing pro's and con's for both, stalemate!
12th Feb we note interest in both, within 10 minutes the phone rings. one of them is sold... !!!!!! we both say.
14th Feb our 2nd closing date we got this down pat now, here we go. closing time comes and goes, solicitors closing for the day comes and goes, the emotional rollercoaster is in full swing! did we get it? were we outbid again?!
15th Feb that dreaded phone call! sorry guys outbid again. devastation in the household, we're gutted, this falling in love to have it ripped away is hard going.
18th Feb another week more viewings, surely one of these is the one. We hear from a colleague the house across the road from the 12th is coming on the market Friday, we scope it out on google earth, do a driveby to check it out, WOW! surely it's not even in the realm of possibility
22nd Feb It's up on zoopla! omg omg omg! it's gorgeous, everything we ever wanted, surely that's a typo in the price. my wife books a lunchtime viewing. she's in before I even get out of the car. WOW! it's gorgeous must not get excit…… we put an offer in there and then!
23rd we view something else, its not great but its definitely in the it would do category!
24th Another day on the roller-coaster, purple bricks is kindly updating us on how many viewings Fridays house has booked and oh look another ones arranged!
25th we get 3 notifications a 2nd offer has been submitted on Fridays house! a 3rd Offer has been submitted on Fridays house! no more viewings are being taken... It's decision day! We get the call direct from the current owner.....
Its Yours!
I'm a grown man and I was reduced to tears! we just got an offer accepted on the dream! Oh Sh*t what do we need to do next! right erm phone the family, lots more tears! phone the solicitor's, phone the mortgage broker get the wheels going!
and here we are today, mortgage application submitted, waiting patiently for that email/ phone call to say it's gone through.
Todays update (27th)
26th Feb we receive the mortgage illustration from the broker, lower rate than was originally quoted to us so we will have spare beer money (if it goes through) YAY!
27th Feb our 1st query from our broker quickly responded to and then all quiet again.
Todays update (1st March)
Happy Friday everyone, hope your wait isn't too painful and congratulations to everyone who has received their mortgage offers.
28th Fourth and final gifted deposit letter issued to solicitors and MB
1st March Email from clear score to say Hard search has been added to my file, quick login and it's the mortgage company... I've never been so anxious waiting on updates in my life. Meanwhile my wife's started packing up non essentials and getting a book of checklists going.
Final update on this thread (moving to the waiting to exchange one)
OUR MORTGAGE IS APPROVED and our offer will follow in the post.:j:T
Good luck to everyone still waiting, you will be absolutely fine0 -
I'm going to join in here if I may, if only to give myself something to occupy myself during this (not that long, but seemingly interminable) wait!
14/2 DIP received from Leeds
15/2 Full application in, along with 3 months statements and payslips for me, 3 years accounts for my husband and necessary ID.
15/2 Hard credit check
21/2 Chased broker, advised we need to sign and return declaration and direct debit form so that our application can go for 1st assessment.
22/2 Documents sent to broker and on to Leeds.
... and now we wait. I'm a nervous wreck. We have a couple of issues which make our situation a bit 'quirky' but broker seemed optimistic. The days have never seemed longer!0 -
My partner and I have had a stressful time so far for our FTB mortgage, mostly due to an awful mortgage broker who got us a bad deal and submitted the application before we even know what the terms were!
The deal he got us a 2 year fix (when we wanted longer) @ 3.25% and we had to pay him a few of £299 alongside commission of £440 he was getting from the lender. Alongside this there was incorrect information in our AIP, our debit card was double charged the fee so had to wait days for that to be refunded.
He didn't even use the full amount of our deposit (15k) which we asked, as they were in LISAs we wanted to use it all for the house deposit, he wanted £14.1k for the deposit and £900 to pay his recommended solicitor fees, although I pointed out the LISA has to be used for the deposit and can't be used towards legal fees, he said there was no problem doing it this way?
Anyways, dissatisfied with what he offered/already applied for,
I contacted my bank (HSBC) on the 8th via telephone, got a AIP
Had the 2 hour long telephone interview the next day on the 9th
Submitted paperwork and various documents in the week and had a valuation booked for Thursday 14th (having had another valuation the day before for the brokers lenders application, sorry vendor!), however the vendor wasn't available on this day so the valuation was moved to a week Friday after, the 22nd.
In the mean time we had the mortgage approved subject to valuation
On the Friday 22nd evening had our mortgage offer in full off HSBC, the same day the valuation was carried out!
So now it's all onto the legal work, paid the solicitor to begin the process of searches etc, paid for a full building survey to be carried out ASAP and just have to wait now.
E-mailed the useless broker to cancel the NatWest application and rang his office but haven't heard back off him at all, funnily enough!
Sorry for the long post but I feel as first time buyers we definitely should have done our own research a bit better and not blindly trusted the broker to get the best deal for us, lesson learnt anyway for next time.
08/02/19 - Telephoned HSBC and obtained AIP
09/02/19 - 2 hour telephone application with HSBC
11/02/19 - Mortgage approved subject to valuation
14 /02/19 - Original valuation meant to be carried out but vendor not available
22/02/19 - Actual valuation carried out when vendor was available
22/02/19 - Mortgage offer received in the evening0 -

Congrats on the outcome! I'm a FTB too and learning as I go, it can be hard to see clearly with all the different information thrown at you during the process!
I'm still waiting for an update on mine. I don't even know if Nationwide have received the valuation report back!0 -
Today we are about to apply for our mortgage.
Timeline as follows:
24/01/19 - DIP accepted via nationwide
30/01/19 - offer accepted on house
31/01/19 - New DIP accepted via nationwide
Solicitors instructed in the time between then and now as awaiting a 3rd payslip from work due to commission role.
28/01/19 - Applying for full mortgage via nationwide
Nervous wreck as we are about to be made homeless and could really do with this all going through! Wish us luck...0 -
I cannot remember when I was last so stressed but finally after 2 weeks received the mortgage approval from Santander now to wait for the actual offer but this board really helped as my other half did not understand why I was so stressed. Also my MA was such a star as the questions from the bank did not come at once it was every 2 or so days another question. Good luck everyone else0
