Thought I would add my timeline below:

    23/09/18 - Viewed Plot/Plans
    28/09/18 - DIP Received
    30/09/18 - Reservation (New Build)
    7/12/18 - H2B Application Submitted
12/12/18 - H2B Application Resubmitted due to incorrect sums
    17/12/18 - H2B AIP Received
10/01/19 - Paid Solicitors to start searches to show willing as did not want to exchange contracts until March (agreed with Persimmon)
14/02/19 - Received call from Solicitors to say searches have not been done and Solicitor we have been communicating with is actually not looking after our account since December...
14/02/19 - New DIP with Aldermore
15/02/19 - Full Application sent in to Aldermore
    15/02/19 - Hard Searches done
18/02/19 - Sent back Signed Declaration and Direct Debit Form and answered questions about outgoings (all happy with that)
    18/02/19 - New Solicitors instructed
    21/02/19 - Valuation Booked

Annoyingly we're 4 weeks behind where we should be due to the original solicitors not doing what they were paid to do and having to instruct new solicitors. But Aldermore are moving pretty quickly and were lucky that the broker is keeping us updated. I guess next week we will be looking at an update sometime, fingers crossed!

Sounds like you've had a stressful time of it but all good news with it now moving forward. :)

    Finally get to join.

Our broker has put our application in to Clydesdale. Underwriter came back with a couple of questions and now they have requested a copy of our employment contracts. At the same time we have been asked to sign a Customer declaration and direct debit form, don't know if this is a good sign or part of the standard process.

Been warned that Clydesdale can be slow and have to sign missives on 4th March so hoping it all goes through on time.
  • Congrats to everyone who’ve got their offers! We’ve had to have a structural report and then a drainage report (both fine) and now waiting for the valuer to review the drainage report before giving the house the ok. Our chain want to exchange 1st ‘March but it’s not looking so likely as we are still awaiting our offer!
  • Hopefully the valuer will review the drainage report sharpish! I think it's fairly quick from then on with getting your offer.
  • This process is trying to give me a heart attack!

    Yippee!!!

For those who think that the process should be quick...I'm an example it's not always quick for various reasons!

We had an awesome team at L&C brokers, professional and can't fault them at all, did a brilliant job for us, every step of the way through various changes of prospective purchases in the last 5 months as we looked for our forever home.

Hoping the next steps won't be so laborious!!! Or nail-biting!!! Lol

  • It’s comforting to see other people in the same boat! I’ve been a nervous wreck for weeks now!

I’m on a 2nd mortgage application with new broker after our first application fell through with Halifax and their valuation. New broker found and application going through with Nationwide.

Valuation carried out on 21/02, and now the waiting game to see if that is coming back ok. I’m hoping on an update tomorrow!

Reading through the previous posts it seems Nationwide are pretty good at providing updates?

Congrats to everyone who has their offer so far!
  • We were expecting our offer on Friday however, the valuation seems to have done in a totally different property as they said it was built in the 1950's (a miracle considering it's a Georgian house) and has a two story extension... which must have been put up since our offer went in
So, currently incredibly stressed out waiting for NatWest to sort out another valuation, they have till end of play tomorrow, according to our broker who also happens to be on a course all day.

    Argh.

That still seems quick to me :rotfl:
Oh and you are lucky with L&C - we had a dreadful experience with them, have put in a complaint and will never use them again.
