  • I am going stir crazy here waiting for news on my mortgage application. I can't stop looking at my phone. I wish someone at nationwide would put me out my misery! Was told we would receive news today, but it's been put back to Friday as they wanted extra documents! Valuation all done and okey..
  • Mortgage application stress

    Viewed Dream House 26th January
    Offer accepted- 28th January
    Full Mortgage Application (Halifax)-29th January
    Valuation-5th February

Waiting on the news is driving me insane we accepted an offer on our current house 1st January and estate agent constantly chasing stating the buyer is ready to talk dated for completion but we are holding off on Searches on the purchase property until we get mortgage offer off Halifax
Anyone any advise how long this usually takes ?

I checked with the lender today it’s been allocated to an underwriter but not sure if it’s been looked at. Valuation tomorrow, again hopefully no under value as the rate will increase. Their speed to offer is about a week so should know late this week or early need week depends on how quickly the valuer sends his report in. I was asked for ID this was promptly submitted.

Our TSB lenders valuation came back the day after it was done and they didn't under value it (thank god!). Just waiting on the decision now... Fingers crossed for you!

From our first viewing the process has taken less than 2 weeks which I'm gob smacked about! I think this has a lot to do with our broker making us prepare all potential documents before we even began looking at properties. Hoping the solicitors won't slow things down too much now..

    Offer accepted 01/02/18
    Appointed solicitor 04/02/18
Mortgage application submitted (through Habito, who so far have been amazing - I've got a referral code for £100 if you go through them if anyone wants!) 05/02/18
    Solicitor papers received 05/02/18
    Valuation survey booked 06/02/18
Solicitor papers completed and posted back 06/02/18
    Valuation survey completed 07/02/18
Solicitors in receipt of completed papers 07/02/18

Now awaiting for further updates. Is it foolish to think that because it's been rather quick so far, that we will keep this momentum? (we're FTB and the house we're moving into is vacant possession!)
