Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

Hi Everyone!
I'm so glad this thread exists - I'm going out of my mind!
9/1 - Put our house on the market - offer accepted the same day
10/1 - Offer accepted on a house we wanted to buy
We already had a DIA from the Nationwide. Valuation booked for 30/1
Nationwide kept asking for more info (we already have a mortgage with them). After going down to the branch 5 times in 1 week to get things faxed over they decided we couldn't port our mortgage....Grrrrrr!
Valuation cancelled
29/1 - Application in branch with HSBC
30/1 - Apllication sent to the underwriters. Apparently theres a backlog and the process may take 5 (working days). So we're looking at hearing back next Thursday 6/2
I'd consider myself really good with paperwork. I had all the info that Nationwide needed and provided it. By the end of the week I didn't want to answer my phone, as I knew it would be them saying they hadn't received this or that - I can't believe how stressful it was!
Is anyone applying through HSBC? How long did your application take with the underwriters?
Fingers crossed for all of us!0 -
I'm a first time buyer hoping to purchase a house with no chain so here's hoping it will quick and painless!
20/1/2014 made offer an on a house - offer accepted
20/1/2014 agreement in principle agreed with Halifax
23/1/2014 called solicitor was told letter would be sent out regarding fees terms and conditions..
24/1/2014 meeting with broker full application made, payslips and other paperwork given, paid survey fee.
30/1/2014 survey being done today.
As of now still waiting for letter(s) from solicitor, hoping survey goes well today and awaiting mortgage offer!0 -
11 December We applied for a 95% mortgage through Yorkshire Building Society and put an offer on house, being told our application wouldn't have to go to underwriters.
9 January (nice to see YBS aren't rushing themselves!) and we hear from YBS that our application is being sent to the underwriters. So we had a lot of stress while waiting for a decision; Thursday to Tuesday, just waiting. It was horrid!
Between those 2 dates we instructed our solicitors (who didn't actually commence searches until the new year due to a delay from the vendor's solicitors over Christmas,) and had to renegotiate the price down on the result of the valuation.
It has been a horribly stressful period; I really feel like we've been on hold since the start of December. But we (hopefully) exchange today and complete and move tomorrow.
We're first time buyers and not in a chain, but it has taken ages, and it's driven me round the twist. But the end is almost in sight!Debt free except for this blooming mortgage!
Offsetting is the way to go!0 -

17/1/14 - second viewing on house
20/1/14 - AIP sent and received
20/1/14 - offer submitted and accepted within an hour
21/1/14 - mortgage application sent through broker
21/1/14 - application received text and valuation booked for 28/1/14 text
28/1/14 - satisfactory valuation text received
28/1/14 - solicitors instructed
So that is where we are at today. Hopefully the next text we get will be to offer us our mortgage, fingers crossed!!
30/1/14 - received formal mortgage offer text!!!!
Yey so excited. Just got to wait for vendor to find a house to buy themselves now0 -

Thanks for your positive experience. I really hope so, Bloomin' weekend getting in the way!0 -
Really getting fed up now.
27/01/14 - yet more proof of deposit requested. At least this time they've given a list as opposed to just telling me one thing at a time. Bit sick of running to catch banks and post offices before closing time!
Apparently the huge bulk of papers I sent in as proof this time finally covered everything.
30/01/14 - text/email to say formal mortgage offer has been issued :jMortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
Update - 24/01 After having put in copies of letters regarding deposits from our Dads, copies of their ID, bank statement etc, everything is now with the broker. Valuation ok, and I am now waiting on the lender to tell me all is ok (I hope...)
I agree with previous posts - this is the most stressful thing I have ever done, and haven't even got to the offer yet.
Update
Offer letter arrived today, can't describe the relief!!!0 -
Completely off the topic, but I do feel maybe there should be something like a "woo hoo" button, along the lines of the "thank you" one to show our support when someone gets approved. Perhaps though we would need a "sympathise" one too. I read so many interesting things on here, mostly very helpful, but also so many great success stories that have helped keep my head in the right place while waiting. Thank you to all.0
