  • Our valuation is today, not sure what to expect but fingers crossed we are closer to the finish line!

Also what can we expect following receiving & signing the offer?
  • Hello!

Thought I'd join the anxious waiting period with others in a similar boat :)
    FTB here by the way!

Full mortgage application sent to Nationwide via Broker 21/11. Text received from Nationwide to notify receipt of application 21/11.
    GC Challenge 2018:
    Jan £309.44/£290.72
    Feb £204.81/£290
    March £153.60/£300
  • Gilroy,

I believe this is the case. You should be fine if the valuation is ok.

    Hope you get good news.
  • Got our mortgage approved today from Nationwide. Valuation was yesterday and application on Saturday. Over the moon!

Now just wondering realistically when we can complete. Hopefully soon as the seller is a property developer, so not living in the house.

Hi Adele, thats great, a week from mortgage application to offer is absolutely fantastic! Did you do your application via a broker or direct?

Hubbie and I have applied via a broker this Monday, survey is booked for next Thursday, so fingers crossed we wont have to wait too much longer for a decision!

  • I get so jealous reading others success stories, especially when its so quick

The waiting is like nothing I've experienced before, I know that sounds dramatic but the way things are done seem almost to tease the prospective buyer/seller

anyways congrats all, our turn soon I hope
  • I will be going through this in March/April next year. So can't wait for the stress :-/
  • Hi, signing and logging in finally. Thank you everyone for sharing you stories... I've read them all to keep me sane! I just wanted to share my experience as it a bit unique, in the hope that it might be relevant to someone else.

Background: I'm married, two teenage kids, good job, good credit rating. Never had mortgage as husband is 24 years older and gets house with his job (vicar). He had one small property outright and another appartment which was mortgaged but I wasn't able to be named on mortgage at time as I was a student. Both were rented, Both properties now sold and we are looking for potential retirement home.... He is due to retire within next 24 months, I've no luck of retiring under current government!

    Current situation|
July 2016: both rental properties sold, money into our join current account as actively looking another property.
August 2016- met with MA to discuss our limits... Will be based solely on my income due to husbands age.
    17/10/16 viewed property
18/10/16 offer placed and accepted within the hour!
26/10/16 mortgage application for buy to let placed
14/11/16 BTL mortgage application declined. I met that banks BTL criteria but not their residential and they got wind we intend to move in on a few years time. Residential mortgage application submitted instead.
15/11/16 Agreed in principle, survey requested.
23/11/16 lender concerned that my deposit is coming from our joint account. They wish himself to be named on mortgage, and yet he's too old for their mortgage! Lender also not happy to have a letter from solicitor saying himself is happy to gift me any money towards deposit.... On other hand they would be happy if family members can do instead. Crazy!!!

Stressed beyond stress. Any words of comfort you can offer? I'd honestly be better off if divorced and a single parent. Yes we are using an excellent mortgage broker, He's as frustrated as me! I have a good credit rating and good income solo. They are just being awkward. I don't fit into their tick box system. Bring back the days of good old fashioned bank manager that you can meet face to face and knows your personal situation and history....

  • Finally join this post! FTB

    With NatWest
    15/11/16AIP done
    17/11/16 offer made and accepted
    28/11/16 full mortgage application
    28/11/16 validation fee taken

On the full application was told we was accepted and she could see why the underwriters would have any issues with the application. I've got everything crossed.
  • Broker communicating with a lender on our behalf and should hear tomorrow.
Few weeks ago had AIP but then declined at full application.
So hoping, praying, and wishing so hard it comes back with a solid and reasonable offer!
We are part way through the buying process of a shared ownership house! Ticks every box and next to my daughters school!!!
We have had the year from hell so i am praying for a new start!
Good luck to everyone waiting to hear!
