The wife and I have been looking for so long. Had a AIP in April, offers in on several over the following months, but lost out to cash buyers and "family friends". Finally found somewhere, Offer in and accepted, Awaiting on surveys and application with Nationwide. The only snag is it misses's contract is up at the end of July 2017. Although they want to renew, they don't make that decision for several months yet.

So it's a wait and see situation. Valuation survey booked for the 8/12, hoping for a decision early next week - If we get told no, we have already decided to just stay renting for a while, or until everything is firmed up with her contract.

And another day draws to a close and no offer, one minute it feels like its all falling into place and then silence. It's a shame as our solicitor is so on the ball, they have everything ready to go too

We're in the same boat! Waiting to hear back from Nationwide (first time buyers applying through HTB) and my contract also ends next year. Our valuation is booked for tomorrow (7th) so hoping we get an update soon! I'm hoping if the temporary contract was an issue they wouldn't offer the DIP? Good luck!

We are going through an adviser who said in April "they'll take you no problem as you have over a year left", when we finally had an offer accepted she said "it may be a problem for the underwriter [as it's less than a year], or it may not be". That was that.

Just a wait and see situation, which I hate! Good luck to you too!
  • I am a first time buyer and recently (Nov 19th) had a mortgage approved from Nationwide. I am also on Fixed Term Contracts and my current contract ends on Feb 24th and it went through ok.

I went through a broker who checked with NW about fixed term contracts before applying. They asked for ALOT of work details and contracts before issuing the offer but fundamentally went through ok :)

That is good to know. I know they have asked us "Will to contract be renewed?" and the answer is hopefully, but we probably wont know until April. Just have to wait and see.

Had the environmental searches back today - between 10- 30%c chance of Radon.

Didn't realise that house we've been living in for the last 3 years is also in that same bracket!

Will have to price a PVU if we get it.
  • Hi what I would like to know is, why am I getting all the bad stuff?.
the only house I've ever purchase before now is the one I'm living in now, 30 years ago. But selling it and buying another has been horrendous!
13 August Signed up estate agent
    20 August open house
    25 August accepted offer
7 December STILL WAITING FOR THE SALE TO COMPLETE

The buyer's solicitor is rotten and will not return calls to either my estate agent or solicitor and it was only after I email her and reminded her she has a code of practice to adhere to we actually find out that my purchasers mortgage is being ''internally randomly audited''. However I do not know when that started and how long it will be. Whilst this has been going on I have lost out on my initial purchase of a rather nice bungalow because the seller pulled out saying it was taking too long. I am now in the process of trying to purchase another place and again this one is threatening to pull the plug. From start to finish so far it has been 18 weeks(ish)....is this normal? or does somebody 'up there' really hate me?

I would love to be a fly on the wall at our lenders office

I've never refreshed my emails so much in my life, just to see "Mortgage Offer" in the heading

    Hi everyone,

We just made an offer and I am hoping to get this accepted soon and I am super nervous about getting our mortgage application accepted. We are going through a broker so I am hoping it will all be ok.

Fingers crossed for the offer getting accepted. Then fingers crossed getting the mortgage application accepted.

    ahhhhhhhhh!!!!

    xx

Quick question for those of you who have received your mortgage with Nationwide through the post; did you have to sign and return anything? I've always been under the impression that you're required to sign and return a form to show acceptance but our offer came through with no such requirement. We're going away in a few days and I don't want to receive documents in the post that need to be actioned/signed whilst we're away.:eek:
