I am feeling sick, angry, disappointed etc etc.... They never told it before that this is a part of process and all of a sudden they told me this today. My question here is; is it a normal thing that case is refereed to headoffice during/after underwriters are working on it? OR my case is exceptional? My estate agent is calling my every second day to get the valuation date and I am stuck.
Kindly and please shed some light on the issue to relieve my nerves. Many thanks.
I am declined. Santander headoffice refused my application after conducting audit checks on my application. Reason not given. They told me that my mortgage consultant will call me tomorrow to discuss the refusal. Devastated and gutted.
I approached my local mortgage broker and put a fresh application today with Nationwide. First they successfully got me DIP and then compiled and forwarded full mortgage application with Nationwide and I provided them ID, 3 months bank statement, 3 pay slips, proof of deposit, debit card details to pay valuation fee.
Now, I am worried that how does the refusal from santander affect my application with Nationwide? What is your view on this? And when should I expect underwriter decision from Nationwide?
Santander has wasted my 17 precious days. And I am finding myself of poor standing in front of vendor and estate agent. I still have not told them that I have been declined by Santander! I am waiting to get underwriter's decision from Nationwide before speaking with Estate agent/vendor.0 -
As I said in my response to your PM, there is no record of a decline. All Nationwide will see is a search done by another lender.
A Nationwide application normally sees an accept decision, valuer instructed immediately and supporting documents requested. The documents are accepted within a couple of days and any further requirements identified and obtained. Once the valuation is back, the case would normally be offered within 48 hours.
I would personally have spent more time investigating the reason for the decline, particularly due to "audit checks" in case they are going to come up later in the process with other lenders.
TBH you should have started your own thread, rather than mess about with PMs and get submerged in these "progress" threads then people would be able to see the case issues and the thread unfold, seeing the whole picture at the same time, rather than the dribs and drabs...I am a mortgage broker. so annoyed.. still no word about vendor signing her contract.. had an arranged completion date of this Friday. was led to believe last week that everything was in place to exchange until I get told no signed contracts! no response from seller since Friday and I'm starting to think the worst! x
OMG, This is AWFUL. Poor you... I thought you were all done and dusted. I really wish you all the best, and loads of luck.

Hi rizwan,
I am also with Santander, and have been through the mill with them, I think because we have a second mortgaged property, and that one of us is self employed.
We were refused also, but to cut a very long story short, we went through the appeals process, which has made every step painfully slow, but eventually had it agreed, and are now waiting for our valuation to be done on 11/12/13 (ooh look at that date, hope it's a good omen!!)
I wish you luck, its such a sickening, scary process, particularly if you get a refusal.
Do let us know how you get on.0 -
