I'm a long-time lurker on this thread, so I thought I would pipe up!

We are FTB buyers in Scotland applying to Nationwide through a broker.

    05/01 -- Offer accepted
    08/01 -- DIP
    10/01 -- Full application received
12/01 -- Requested evidence of savings over 12 months and bank statements showing our December salary credits (argh my statement isn't generated until 19th Jan!)
13/01 -- Valuation booked (as it is in Scotland, I assume this means home report requested)
14/01 -- Home report received and agreed

My broker has advised we are literally just waiting on my January bank statement and final checks, so I keep checking my online banking in case my statement is up already :rotfl:

We do complain over how "long" it takes... It really is quite quick but feels like an eternity! :rotfl:

22/01 -- Statement with Dec pay credit sent over
27/01 -- Advised that there was going to be a delay due to the fact that our statements needed to be redacted before uploading into NW's systems but broker was trying to get the case escalated...
    27/01 @ 1535 -- Mortgage Offer! :T :T

I can now finally start to feel like I am close to owning a house!

    KatyJane & BelfastFTB,

Took your advice and called them today. Our Mortgage was approved Friday, the same day they received the valuation but for some reason we were never informed/never sent in the post.

    Mortgage timeline:

    18/01 - DIP Nationwide
    18/01 - HTB application
20/01 - HTB Authority to Proceed
    20/01 - Full Application
    21/01 - Valuation Booked
    22/01 - Valuation Done & received
28/01 - Formal Mortgage Offer - Although the lady I spoke to said it was all approved on the 22/01 but was never sent to us.

Hopefully receive the offer in the post in the next couple of days!

Wow, yours has gone through so much faster than ours! I'm glad you decided to ring, got you some great news :T

Our full application was done on 6th Jan and I've had an email from Nationwide this afternoon saying the mortgage has been approved and the formal offer is in the post. Ours has taken 22 days due to the advisor not checking our documents during our appointment and then several trips to branch and them not faxing them over. I'm in two minds whether to complain about all the messing around we've had as it could of been sorted during our appointment had the staff member done his job and checked our documents.

How far have you got with the solicitors?

Congrats! Hopefully it all goes smoothly for you from now!

Even though we were advised not to we paid our solicitor for the searches the day after our full app went in. We were given a deadline of the 19/02 for completion so we thought we'd take the risk just to get the ball rolling. I need to call them to see how its progressing.
  • I'VE RECEIVED MY OFFER TODAY!!!!
Mortgage application was submitted on the 5th of Jan

Had another update on my new application with Nationwide. MA finally found out why they were being so awkward asking for extra information and delaying. Seems somebody entered my address incompletely in their system, so I guess it was flagged for possible fraud.

MA sorted it yesterday with Nationwide and as of today everything has been ticked as satisfied and an official offer is expected sometime next week :)
