Can finally join this thread.
Mortgage interview and full application done today direct with Nationwide. Valuation booked for tomorrow.
Interview took over three hours, but wasn't as scary as some of the horror stories I've been reading on MSE.
My partner and I are FTB and have a DIP/AIP from Nationwide and had our offer accepted on Tuesday. We have our mortgage application meeting with NW on Saturday, so any advice as to what they might ask?
We're trying not to freak out!

Don't freak out. It's actually fine. We had already done our dip, like you, so none of that was really gone into that much. She just submitted the full application and then went on to talk about product choices. It was only then that she asked whether we were having more children or saw any income changes, and this was only done in relation to how this might affect our product choice.
There was no raking through bank statements or spending habits. In fact, the documentation wasn't taken until the very end so it actually wasn't looked at at all during the meeting. About one of the three hours was used to try to sell us various insurances.
Is there anything you're specifically worried about?0 -
Hi all,
FTB here so new to the anxiety a mortgage application can induce!!
My application timeline so far has been
24/12 - AIP with NatWest and full app submitted via L&C broker
24/12 - Proof of deposit requested
30/12 - Proof of deposit received
6/01 - ID documents requested as they were unable to electronically verify me; docs sent the same day
7/01 - Docs received and valuation payment taken
11/12 - Call from surveyors to book valuation
12/01 - Valuation complete
13/01 - confirmed valuation was OK and should receive offer the following week (which is this week)
Things have been slightly delayed due to Xmas break; I've been checking their online tracker and its still not showing at the offer stage which is slightly annoying.....I've never really been the most patient person
UPDATE
19/01 - Mortgage offer issued for the full amount
21/01 - Copy received from broker but still awaiting my copy in the post.
I feel like I can breathe now, I'm officially going to be a homeowner!
Good luck to everyone still waiting :j0 -

Not particularly, just the usual apprehensions I guess although I have a default which is due to fall off in March so worried if that has an effect. We know we can afford the payments etc as our joint income is 65k and we only need a mortgage for 161k. We only have credit cards and around 3k in total on those. We just want to make sure we get everything right on Saturday!0 -
Hey guys, super stressed about our mortgage application. DIP offered us £13k more than we need.
Halifax through a broker. First time buyers with 5% deposit. 2 of us, with 1 excellent credit score and 1 with good.
Full application: 08/01
Decision in principle: 08/01
Experian checks on 08/01 and 09/01
Another Experian with negative effect 11/01
Apparently it has been pulled for audit. How long can this take?
The broker isn't giving us much which makes me very nervous.
How long does it usually take for the bank's offer?
Any insight is appreciated0 -
Can anyone tell me a good broker or lender as I had bad debt in the past.0
-
Ahh thank you!
I managed to change our completion date for Friday 29th - which gives us another week of getting things in to place! Plus I've managed to book a few days off and have a long (but guaranteed to be stressful) weekend.
Oh no! That is an absolute ball achekeep me posted when you hear back! OH can be rubbish can't they :rotfl: this mortgage business has been near enough breaking point for us... the first thing I'm doing when we move in is arranging life insurance and then pushing him out of the window
Joking I am! ha ha
Hahaha! Turns out I was the last one to hold things up... Apparently Halifax are not one of the lenders to allow SA302s to be provided with the UTR erased so cue a long wait with HMRC!
But even though I'm still waiting for these, we got our mortgage offer through today! I'm delighted. They've recommended 27 rather than 25 years but we plan on making overpayments anyway.
So yes, not sure what to do next but it's great fun!0 -

Why have you been offered more than you asked for?
We checked our Experian which had a negative score when the checks were carried out on 19/1, and got an offer through the post with the same date on it. Sounds like a big hold up. What does your broker say?0 -

Ah amazing! You'll recieve your offer in the post (if you haven't already) with a form to sign and send back to them within 7 daysin my experience this was when we then went on to sign the mortgage deed and contract with our solictor - after that he emailed us a completion statement of what we needed to pay him (deposit included!) so he could then arrange exchange of contracts.
I transfered our deposit to him yesterday along with his fees - which surprisingly came in a bit cheaper than he had previously quoted :T - and I'm waiting for him to arrange our exchange of contracts. I'm guessing this will happen early next week if it doesn't take place today. And then I collect the keys a week today  my savings account is now running extremely low, I took a screenshot of the funds before they left so I could remember I once had them :rotfl:0
