imoustache wrote: »Hey guys, super stressed about our mortgage application. DIP offered us £13k more than we need.
Halifax through a broker. First time buyers with 5% deposit. 2 of us, with 1 excellent credit score and 1 with good.
Full application: 08/01
Decision in principle: 08/01
Experian checks on 08/01 and 09/01
Another Experian with negative effect 11/01
Apparently it has been pulled for audit. How long can this take?
The broker isn't giving us much which makes me very nervous.
How long does it usually take for the bank's offer?
Any insight is appreciated
Just received our Halifax Mortgage offer for the full price! :j:rotfl:
Over the moon!!!
Full application: 08/01
Decision in principle: 08/01
Experian checks on 08/01 and 09/01
Another Experian with negative effect 11/01
Pulled for audit
Got the green light: 21/01
Valuation took place: 22/01
Full offer at 5% deposit: 25/01
Can anything go wrong from now on? How long should take the solicitors to arrange everything else? They were contracted 2 weeks ago.
Good luck everyone!

Apparently our offer documents will "arrive shortly". Seems positive......still waiting for the home buyer report though!0

Hi All,
In the process of getting a mortgage with Nationwide. The valuation took place Friday 22nd and Nationwide received it the same day. We've heard nothing since, does it normally take this long?
Thanks.0 -
Our valuation was agreed the day after the home report was requested (14/01) and since then all that has happened is we have been dogged with delays on NW's side one way or another.0

Received the home buyer report today, nothing that we didn't expect but pleased we opted for it anyway... Offer docs came as well! Now just hope the vendor buys somewhere with no chain, preferably soon!0

We have gone through Nationwide and have been disappointed with the service. My advice is ring them. Have you had an email from someone at Nationwide saying they will be your mortgage advisor?
I have spent a lot of time ringing up to chase up documents that they have messed up and found that if I don't ring them I'll be kept waiting.0 -

Hi Jones, I see someone else has replied but I'll reiterate their point; don't hesitate to chase them. If they don't give you rough timeframes then pester them for an idea of when you'll hear from them next. I assume you've gone directly, and not through a broker? We are using a broker for our Halifax mortgage and it's taking forever...
However, Nationwide are very thorough. I've found there are generally two types of lender - one who will drag their heels and go silent and the other who'll phone you every day for a week asking for a different document or piece of information. If you've one, you'll wish you had the other if you see what I mean!
Santander get rave reviews about knowing exactly what they need, asking for it and quickly turning it around. Another casual observation: some lenders seem to like to lay out obstacles for inexperienced brokers. I've no idea why.0 -
Yes a major result - providing he doesn't send us the rest of the fees I think I've gotten away with anytime soon :rotfl:
Ah hope all goes well with the solictor and hopefully you'll find out where everythings up to and they may even give you a proposed completion date??well an expectant homeowners blow dry is only the very best blow dry to have!
We ordered our sofa on the weekend but haven't arranged the finance on it yet, I'm taking no chances on the mortgage falling through because we had a credit check on finance - imagine!! Once exchange of contracts is complete this week, I'm going to confirm with our solictor that he's received the money from our lender before I go ahead and arrange that. A 3 week wait for a sofa is going to be dull.....
Keep me posted!!
Haha, imagine that! You'll have a romantic few weeks of eating your dinner and having cups of tea off an upturned box! Ah I bet you're so excited now though. Any further word?
His employers still haven't replied to the lender's request for a reference so that's holding it up yet again. Argh. We are not expecting to be in before March at this rate...!0 -

Ah tell his employers to hurry the heckers up! lol
We got stung with a Final Completion Statement AGAIN yesterday - this time from the sellers solictor (grr) as the property is a new build and only part ownership we had an added £435 bill to pay that I wasn't prepared for *sigh*
Some of it was for a months rent up front for the 50% share we don't own, and the rest was engrossment fees - which were more than I was originally told they would be. Ironically though, when I queried this with the seller, she ignored my email and hasn't been intouch since... great service?? No doubt she will respond by tomorrow to say she forgot to email me back blah blah....
But seeing asthough these are fees I can't get out of, I paid them yesterday. The money was supposed to cover a washing machine and to get all our blinds/curtains fitted *cries* it's a good job I hadn't already ordered and paid for these things!
Our solictor only requested the money from our lender yesterday (26th Jan) and we are due to complete on thr 29th! Let's hope they clear and he can exchange contracts either tomorrow or on our actual completion date so we definitely get the keys on Friday!0
