We checked our Experian which had a negative score when the checks were carried out on 19/1, and got an offer through the post with the same date on it. Sounds like a big hold up. What does your broker say?
Thank you.
Not the full offer, but available money to borrow on our decision in principle.
It was a big hold up, but got a phone call yesterday evening saying it was all fine. Valuation was advised yesterday and should take place.
Now, fingers triple crossed that it's not down-valued for some reason.0 -
Got our offer through this week, very painless process with virgin.
But, the vendors that said they were chain free are clearly not and now won't move till at least August so we have pulled out of the deal.
Had an offer accepted today though on a smaller cheaper property with potential to extend so all is not lost.0 -
No idea where I am in the process, frankly a confused ftb
Timeline so far looking something like...
11/01 - offer accepted
15/01 - valuation and survey
16/01 - full app
Paid for my searches and got a text from the bank today to say they're processing the app and that they'll send me the documents shortly... However, I got three in a row and none of them made much sense to meso who knows, I am clueless.
Valuation came back on Saturday and was fine, there was absolutely nothing on the report - my advisor said usually they have something but nope, all clear... I am still waiting for the homebuyer report however...0 -
So far we are a week in.
15th: Offer acctpted on our apartment & house were moving too
18th: Solicitor instructed & checks being carried out
19th: mortgage application sent off
22nd: all apartment docs handed to solicitor
Today I got a call asking to make an appointment for a valuation on the house I'm buying, as they had me down as buyer & vendor? pointed them in the right direction, so hopefully all go there.
Our chain is pretty simple, guy buying ours is a cash buyer & were moving in to a home where the owner passed away & the inheritor is selling so chain free.0 -
Just an update, had our mortgage application with Nationwide on Saturday. They apparently had a system issue that week which made the application processes lag. Head Office have decided to shut down the system from 1pm Saturday 23rd Jan to Tuesday 26th Jan to help the system to catch up. Means they can't book in the valuation until after this time.
Application looked good, they said. Only thing that could go wrong is if the valuation means the house isn't worth what we're paying which is positive news as we know it's been valued for more already.
So far, so good.

Offer - 18/01/2016
Offer Accepted: 19/01/2016
Solictiors started their checks: 19/01/2016
Mortgage application sent in: 23/01/20160 -
Ah amazing! You'll recieve your offer in the post (if you haven't already) with a form to sign and send back to them within 7 days
in my experience this was when we then went on to sign the mortgage deed and contract with our solictor - after that he emailed us a completion statement of what we needed to pay him (deposit included!) so he could then arrange exchange of contracts.
I transfered our deposit to him yesterday along with his fees - which surprisingly came in a bit cheaper than he had previously quoted :T - and I'm waiting for him to arrange our exchange of contracts. I'm guessing this will happen early next week if it doesn't take place today. And then I collect the keys a week today  my savings account is now running extremely low, I took a screenshot of the funds before they left so I could remember I once had them :rotfl:
What a result on the fees, Hanbobs!! Congratulations! How exciting for you! I'm going up to drop in the tax forms today and then talk to the solicitor for the first time. We got the mortgage papers through but nothing to sign, strangely, so guess that will come when the valuation does happen (again, possibly today, who knows...)
Delighted for you that it's all gone through so successfully! I'm posting from the salon where I'm having my first expectant homeowners blow dry. Which is a thing. :cool:0 -

Yes a major result - providing he doesn't send us the rest of the fees I think I've gotten away with anytime soon :rotfl:
Ah hope all goes well with the solictor and hopefully you'll find out where everythings up to and they may even give you a proposed completion date??well an expectant homeowners blow dry is only the very best blow dry to have!
We ordered our sofa on the weekend but haven't arranged the finance on it yet, I'm taking no chances on the mortgage falling through because we had a credit check on finance - imagine!! Once exchange of contracts is complete this week, I'm going to confirm with our solictor that he's received the money from our lender before I go ahead and arrange that. A 3 week wait for a sofa is going to be dull.....
Keep me posted!!0 -
I'm a long-time lurker on this thread, so I thought I would pipe up!
We are FTB buyers in Scotland applying to Nationwide through a broker.
05/01 -- Offer accepted
08/01 -- DIP
10/01 -- Full application received
12/01 -- Requested evidence of savings over 12 months and bank statements showing our December salary credits (argh my statement isn't generated until 19th Jan!)
13/01 -- Valuation booked (as it is in Scotland, I assume this means home report requested)
14/01 -- Home report received and agreed
My broker has advised we are literally just waiting on my January bank statement and final checks, so I keep checking my online banking in case my statement is up already :rotfl:
We do complain over how "long" it takes... It really is quite quick but feels like an eternity! :rotfl:
My statement finally turned up, but now my broker has advised Nationwide are now on a four-day assessment turnaround. We are in the queue though and we should know something today or tomorrow...
