We applied for a mortgage with the halifax on Monday for a new build house with Redrow, we've had confirmation they are happy with our documents provided, they have done a credit check on each of us & will be going out to do the valuation next Tuesday (9th Feb) so fingers crossed by the end of next week we'll have a positive decision!

    I hate waiting, I'm too impatient! :o

Our valuation was booked the day after our full mortgage application for the following week, so the valuation was done whilst the application was with the underwriters. That way they can issue your formal offer if they are happy with the valuation report.

Ah fab, hopefully they'll book ours asap then. How did you know they had booked it?
My MA isn't going to ring them until Monday, so don't think i'll hear anything until then.

Haha I wonder if we had the same underwriter!

    Ha. Probably.

Have you received your amended offer yet?

Ahh Jones, I was catching up on your posts and got so excited when I read the one about having chased it up! Fingers crossed this is a straightforward correction.

I've just spent the morning chasing up documents. Turns out an employment reference wasn't addressed to my OH's director (we suspect only HR can fill it out anyway) and was left sitting anonymously on a random desk... He says I nag him too much, I was convinced it had gone astray!

Fingers crossed we can get this over the line... Hard checks completed on us both but there's still this outstanding so not counting anything yet...

Thanks. :) Hopefully they'll make the change quickly and get it sent out before the weekend!

You have a reason to nag, this whole mortgage business is stressful. Everyone says when we sell/buy our next house its far more stressful, if that's the case then it looks like I'm staying put forever!

Hopefully you get your offer soon.
  • FTB and HTB 5% deposit

So an update on where we're at with out mortgage application:

3rd Dec: DIP accepted with Nationwide
19th Jan: Offer accepted on house
23rd Jan: Meeting with Nationwide to submit full application
26th Jan: Valuation booked in for 2/02
    2nd Feb: Valuation took place
3rd Feb: Valuation report received by Nationwide and copy sent to us via email

And now we wait for the full offer! Solicitors already have documents and are doing their checks!

    Hey.

If you don't hear back from Nationwide in a couple of days give them a call. They received our valuation back but never informed us it was ok and forgot to send our offer out.

Our mortgage advisor seems to be pretty on the ball actually. The one we saw in branch to submit the full application emails us all the time, and she emailed me this morning saying the valuation report came back all fine and there were no problems with it. So I emailed the actual Nationwide advisor we have who requests extra documents etc and he sent me the actual report within 10 minutes of my email.

Nationwide seem to be pretty good with us so far! I'll see how they do and give them a call on Monday if I don't hear anything :)
  • Just thought I'd share our story whilst reading through these posts.

Submitted full application yesterday (03/02) to Nationwide.
Received a text today (04/02) to advise that Valuation will be carried out today aswell (In Scotland so understand it's different!)

All seems to be moving relatively quickly - does the fact that it has gone to Valuation mean that the UW process has now been complete?

    I'm a worrier and can't relax haha x:eek:
