Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
starting the process now put in an offer on a property on Saturday and they accepted. Had an AIP with Nationwide but got a better offer when I went to broker and decided to go with that. Bit nervous of using the broker as she is the in house one for the estate agents. Going in again on Thursday to start the full application so doing as much research as possible before then.

    Overjoyed!!! Continuing from the above,

10/2 - Full application submitted to Nationwide
13/2 - Application was with the UWs
    16/2 - Valuation booked for 19/2
    19/2 - Valuation took place
20/2 6:50am - Text advising the valuation report had been received
20/2 6:51am - Text advising we had a formal mortgage offer!!

All in about 7.5 working days!

Can't fault NW at all! From the 10th till now has been a nightmare though, sitting waiting to hear! So relieved and can't believe I will now be on the property ladder! :j:beer:

23/2 - Offer received in writing - phew!

Now it's down to my Solicitor to sort out the paperwork and we are good to go!:D

Keep going, you will get there!

  • They haven't asked for any additional documents. I actually preempted them and took a whole load of things they might possibly ask for, which are all with my broker. Managed to speak with him this afternoon and he says he's got no word from them. Doesn't even know if valuations has been instructed yet. He says he thinks the application is with the underwriters and that's all I got. If I don't hear anything back by Monday, I may start chasing Halifax myself.

Another day, less hair on my head and no more finger nails to bite....

Got an email today's asking that we send in my partners SA302’S for the last 3 years, even though we had been told when putting in a full application that we wouldn't need them seeing as he is a contractor (CIS4) who pays tax through the company he gets all his work through. Just 6months payslips from his "empkoyers"... We phoned the tax office and we were told it could take 7-10days to get them through the post. They have agreed to fax them through to our brokers and send them in the post as well. Knowing my luck the lender will probably insist on originals. Something tells me we won't know or hear anything this week either..

This sucks. To have you go through the stressful mortgage application process while they were still taking offers is not ethical at all. (I know, I know, someone is going to say that all is fair in war, love and property, but still, this is very poor from the seller). Just bad karma.
Did you requested the property to be taken off the market as a condition of the offer ?
