Littlelost that's awful! Is that still allowed these days? I thought it was a no goer? I didn't list my property with a particular estate agent as I heard they did these sort of things still behind the Acevedo and I didn't want my potential buyers to be put in that sort of situation.
Our survey got cancelled today- rebooked for Wednesday :-(0 -
When we put the offer in the property was removed from the market....The buyer that gazumped us had apparently viewed the property a number of weeks before us but were not in a position then to put an offer in.0

I was of the understanding that if it was off the market then that's that- no other offers accepted or even put forward to the vendor. Might be worth kicking up a stink- especially as you've already spent out on a survey. Could always threaten EA that you'll make local press aware- that'd put off any potential customers from viewing any of their properties!!!0

Name and shame the estate agent.
They should not have entertained any other buyers after accepting your offer and they should also have advised the seller against accepting another offer when you had already started the mortgage process.
The law is lacking in this area to protect people in your situation.0 -

Hi guys,
Can anyone who knows about the Halifax process shed some light on what this means?
Had my full mortgage application on 16/02 and it was all Ok'd and survey booked the next day for Wednesday this week.
I phoned this morning and they told me that the valuation had been cancelled and that they are awaiting a decision from the 'credit decisioning' team or something to that effect.
Is this normal or is it a sign they have changed their mind and are scrutnising my application more? They did say that this wasn't quite the same as the underwriting team.0 -
I've just had the exact same thing!
My valuation was due yesterday but it got canceled and postponed til tomorrow. I rang my mortgage broker who looked in to it. They said that my application had gone to the credit decision team for further checks to be done, and now they are done they are satisfied with the application financially and the mortgage offer should be through by the end of the week assuming the valuation tomorrow goes through ok. Apparently try postponed the valuation until the credit decision team had looked at the application because if they weren't satisfied with our finances then they wouldn't have instructed (and therefore charged us) for the valuation.
We are applying through halifax too. Are you able to check with halifax if the credit decision team have approved your application?0 -

Hmmm we're applying to Halifax too. I had the same reasoning apart from apparently ours was referred to a senior underwriter. But they said the thing about valuation too...except they've actually already taken the bloomin money for valuation!
Wonder what's going on at Halifax. Although my case is a bit complicated, I can't believe this is coincidence!0 -

Did they tell you why a case is sent to the credit decision team? Seems strange for them to instruct a survey and then decide to cancel it, it can only be a bad indication.
I phoned them this morning and they advised that I should probably try again tomorrow afternoon by which time there should be a response.
Regardless of the outcome, it is the wait that is driving me insane.0 -
Well, was back to the drawing board two weeks ago. Our previous purchase fell through on the day of exchange. Seller pulled out.
We then went to look at some new builds to "rule them out" and decided this is for us, so put a deposit down. So had to start from the beginning, luckily we had moved out of ours and completed so are currently at the inlaws!!
So our timeline:
23/01/2015 - Complete on sale of ours and move into inlaws
06/02/2015 - Expected exchange date on prior house-falls through
07/02/2015 - Put deposit down on completed new build
10/02/2015 - Contact L&C to sort out mortgage, require new one!!
15/02/2015 - Week of changing address to temp address for FMA
17/02/2015 - DIP with Abbey (Santander)
20/02/2015 - FMA submitted to Abbey
23/02/2015 - Documents requested and sent same day
24/02/2015 - Valuation ordered for 02/03/2015
So anxious it is unreal, can't sleep or concentrate at work. Terrified this one will fall through, it's an amazing house. All I can think about is mortgages!!
!Positive mental attitude!0
