"We are in the process of applying for our first mortgage.

Few complications, my boyfriend started a new job on 08/12/14 on a temporary, one year contract (should be made permanent). Applying for a 95% LTV mortgage. Around £2300 in credit card debt, no other commitments. One missed CC payment on my file.

25/11 - Viewed our property for the first time
26/11 - First contact with L&C, asked to call back when we've agreed an offer, DIP emailed (no credit checks)
29/11 - Second viewing of property
01/12 - First offer put to EA, rejected
06/12 - Offer accepted on property
08/12 - Second contact with L&C to start mortgage application
09/12 - Best and only deal really is with the Halifax
09/12-11/12 - Sending a range of payslips, bank statements etc
11/12 - L&C contacted us to inform us we've passed credit check, needed some additional documents to process to valuation! We also got access to our mortgage case online through L&C
11/12 - Money taken for valuation (homebuyer)
    19/12 - Homebuyer survey completed"

23/12 - Just had our mortgage offer issued and survey returned!

    Hi everyone,

I haven't seen many (recent) timelines for people using Leeds BS. I've read some horrendous reviews since applying, which seems to be when they were inundated with applications earlier in the year and it seems like they have their act together somewhat now..

I'm a FTB buying a new build using Help To Buy (Wales).

25/11/2014 - DIP with Leeds BS
27/11/2014 - Help to buy application submitted and passed same day
05/12/2014 - Full application submitted to Leeds BS
13/12/2014 - Additional proof of address (3 years) requested as I am not on the electoral
    18/12/2014 - Surveyor sent
22/12/2014 - Survey received. Will go to final checks in ‘2-3’ days apparently

I'm hoping the fact they sent out a surveyor and the survey is free with the package I have applied for suggests I am very close to a mortgage offer..It seems like it would be a waste of money for them to do valuations before going through a decent amount of underwriting first.

It's only been 11 working days (not including the day submitted) since full application but it feels like an age!

Well my time on this thread was brief indeed. They processed my offer yesterday and I received it in the post today!

We put full mortgage app in online with Nationwide on 16th December, valuation done 23 December, all fine. They want evidence of our deposit, most of this is in premium bonds so we printed off the transactions in the PB account (it's all online so no statements available) but they won't accept this as it didn't have the name on. Called n s and I to request statement on 22nd, still haven't received it, called again 30th and they said they would send another!! I know its been Christmas which may have held things up but why does everything seem to take so long!!! Pretty sure it's a click of a button to produce a statement their end!!! We are on a deadline too. Need to be completed on sale and purchase by 30th January.

Just frustrating cos everything is out of my control!

Thanks Annie and good luck with yours. I wondered if maybe December is a quieter time for lenders so turnaround is quicker.

Just heard back that my buyers are still proceeding but they are having issues with their mortgage application because the husband runs his own business and they weren't happy with his evidence so he is waiting for the paperwork from the Inland Revenue. So hoping they get their mortgage too!

Turnaround hasn't been quick for me and the wait is killing me but it's what you expect around Christmas and New Years. Anything non retail seems to come to a standstill.

It's been two weeks today since I made my full application. Hopefully I hear something about the mortgage soon.
Paid off my debts, saved up my cash and now I'm finally buying my own home!
  • Had a ruddy nightmare so far and all down to Nationwide !

Basically something errored on their system and because our Nationwide mortgage consultent went on holiday the week prior to christmas, no-one could be bothered with dealing with it.
Cutting a long story short they have had to redo the entire application, which has also meant I have had to give them more bank statements, as the original application started the beginning of November and also another homebuyers fee, which they will refund in their 7-10 working days.

Just bothers me, I have FTB on mine and nervous vendors on the property we are buying (their last sale fell through).
I haven't told any of them, and are delaying people due to crappy NW.
Hopefully, we will see a mortgage off firmly on the table next week.
  • Hi All,

FTB and still at early stages. Broker going through checks but is confident we should be ok.

    Doesn't stop me worrying constantly.

Who knew buying a house could be so stressful!
  • Okay here's mine:
First Direct AIP in June, house found and lost in July/August. House purchase agreed in December.

15/12/2014 (Monday) - called FD. Told offer was no longer valid (as almost 6 months had passed). Booked mortgage interview.
17/12/2014 (Wednesday) - Mortgage Interview. AIP.
20/12/2014 (Saturday) - Application forms received in post.
22/12/2014 (Monday)- Signed forms and wage slips & bank statements posted.
31/12/2104 (Wednesday) - Agreed subject to valuation (via text)
03/01/2014 (Saturday) - text from Valuations agency; rung and paid for Homebuyers report.

Now nervously waiting for result of valuation - nothing else could stop this from happening right?

I'm going to my mortgage broker tomorrow to try and get a full mortgage offer and I'm absolutely terrified!

My timeline so far is as follows

    08/12/14-AIP via broker with Santander
    18/12/14-Offer accepted on property
    20/12/14-FMA with broker

I am a chain free FTB and the property I'm trying to buy is also chain free.

As this is all so new to me I'm freaking out a bit! I really hope all goes ok with the full application!!!!

    Update:

    06/01/15-Mortgage Accepted, subject to valuation

So happy that the mortgage was accepted! I was so worried about it all, being a first timer I had no idea what to expect.

We're pretty confident about the valuation as we know the previous buyer was buying with a mortgage too and it passed then and my offer is equal to the usual price in the area for a house in need of some work so there shouldn't be any issues hopefully.

My broker advised the valuation has already been instructed and should be booked in over the next 72 hours :T
Paid off my debts, saved up my cash and now I'm finally buying my own home!
