You need to put forward your preferred completion date(s) to the other parties in the chain via your solicitor. Once a date is agreed between all the parties, then exchange can take place.
It goes without saying, the other enquiries and documentation has to be in place as well.I am a mortgage broker. Came home to mortgage offer today...1 week after full application went in! (Scotland so no valuation). Halifax only took three payslips from each of us...I'm amazed as I was convinced it wouldn't happen so quickly.

Hello
Our position is
17 June AIP Accepted from Nationwide
25 June Offer accepted on House but had to wait until 9 August for full application because using Save to Buy - whilst waiting Nationwide recieved my employer reference and payslips etc.
9 August Full mortgage application done
so now we are waiting on the homebuyers report which will be carried out on Friday 23rd August
We are on holiday from Monday 26 August to 10 September and we need to receive mortgage offer before the 17 September as DIP runs out.
If Nationwide have arranged the valuation which is booked in for Friday 23rd should there be anymore obsticles which could pop up, are Nationwide likely to want anymore payslips or anything?
any help/advice would be great
thank you0 -

Just to update my previous post in this thread,
10/07 - 1st Viewing
14/07 - 2nd Viewing
17/07 - Offer in
18/07 - Offer accepted on property (against 4 other bidders, 3rd property we have bid on, 3rd time lucky)
26/07 - AIP received and application to Halifax in via broker
02/08 - Documents requested by broker, collated & posted
05/08 - Receipt of confirmation that all required documents received by broker
14/08 - Informed that offer has been issued by bank via broker
17/08 - Offer received
It took just over 3 weeks from application to offer received stage with Halifax, based in Scotland so we were also able to skip valuation stage due to home report being under 3 months old and surveyor on a approved list so no idea why it took so long seeing as emilyjane above received hers in a week!
For information, we applied via broker and Halifax took 3 months payslips and bank statements from each of us even when we both had 999 credit scores.
Good luck to everyone else waiting!0
