  • Hello everyone,
Gosh it's nerve-wracking just listening to all of your experiences!

I'm a first time buyer, buying a house with my partner, but applying solely for the mortgage myself.

    Here's the progress so far:

25th July - mortgage offer in principle
31st July - offer on house accepted!
Thurs 8th Aug - applied for mortgage with all supporting documents.
Monday 12th Aug - mortgage valuation carried out, received the letter yesterday (14th)

Will update as soon as I hear more. We're having a full buildings survey done independently also, as it's an older property. The man was on holiday so hopefully he's back now and that can be done swiftly!

Good luck to everyone who is going through this process.
September 2014 Grocery Challenge = £160 on target
Secret Savings Fund = £150/£2000, plus £120 in vouchers
No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in 2014 = Joined challenge August, no spend so far!

    Congrats!!

And lucky you for receiving your post so early! We are lucky to get ours before lunch lol

We seem to have recently got a new postie who likes to deliver early, before we used to get ours late afternoon
Good luck with your purchase :)

Had my own homebuyers survey carried out today. Have been told that the mortgage valuation is happening tomorrow afternoon. This is where it went wrong last time on the previous ptoperty so fingers crossed.

    Hi all,

Seems we've got a lot more steps to go than I had realised! Not 100% sure where we are tbh, we've had our offer on the hopeful house accepted, Natwest have given us what the Mortgage man says is an initial agreement, with proper approval due today. I thought that was about the last time it could fall through, but reading through here I still can't start to see it as actually our home until we've made it through a load more obstacles. I just hope it's over with soon so I can get back to sleeping for more than 3 hours a night!

Congrats :j our valuation was carried out yesterday, after not happening on the 12th, i'm hoping we will hear something today, otherwise we will be waiting all weekend, it's been exactly a month since full app went in.
  • Hi guys,

Maybe a stupid question i'm not sure.

I have already had my home buyers survey and mortgage valuation carried out and Halifax confirmed that the valuation valuated my property at the asking price. Does this mean that i have received an offer from Halifax or do i need to receive anything more from them?

I think we are very close to agreeing a completion date and i'm wondering if i need to do anything else with Halifax or will my solicitor do the rest?

The further reports NatWest requested went to them yesterday AM. When should I be chasing them up?

Up to yet the only thing I have had from my solicitor is some documents the vendor has filled in. At what point would we negotiate completion?

You'll receive a letter with the mortgage offer. I would not agree to exchange until I have convinced myself that the mortgage offer is correct (i.e. matches the illustration you received at the start of the process). It should be long after valuation you receive your offer.
