When you say not a great credit rating, what do you mean? A low score or are there late payments and defaults on the report. Natwest are rumoured to use Equifax so I suggest you take a look to see what Equifax hold about you.
You have nothing to lose going with a fee free, all of market broker, regardless of credit rating. I did and he has been excellent thruout.
I checked Equifax. I have a couple of late payments from 3 years ago and a default ( totally unbeknownst to me ) from 4 years ago. I have a 60% deposit, so not sure if this will cancel out the bad credit.
How did you find you broker ?
Does anyone know if Natwest credit check before giving an AIP ? I don't think so, but though someone might know for sure.[STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0 -
How much was the default for?
What was the date of registration?
When was it satisfied?
Which CRA version of your credit file is it visible on?

The valuation report noted damp and potential timber damage on our house, but didn't require any further survey to be done before offer...?
Ours us a steel concrete structure, so I think its common for them to require a structural survey on that type of construction. Any dampness present in a steel frame may lead to rusting so perhaps that is why they insist. Grrr why did I fall in love with the arkward house!!FTB

The thing is, I don't have a great credit rating, so am worried that I might get turned down by Natwest even though I have a large deposit. Should I look at going with a broker ? Am I just wasting time going through the full application with Natwest ? How do I find a broker ? I've asked around friends but they all used their banks, so am not sure how to find a good broker.
Went to HSBC today and gave them all the paperwork - took less than 10 minutes, so fingers crossed it will all get moving soon... Reading this thread gives me a lot of hope - and fears!
I used a broker initially, who was recommended by family. I guess a Google search for a whole of market broker won't hurt..!0 -
Received our mortgage offer in the post this morning! :j
Only a few more hurdles to go before we hopefully get our house0 -
Full application submitted. Been told it can take 2-3 weeks for a response. Not good when your on maternity leave with nothing but time on your hands :rotfl:0
