  • I have received vertification by email that the mortgage has been accepted and in the email the lady told me she has sent life insurance and critical illness cover and building insurance through the post which i have received but she didn't mention that i would be receiving a hard copy of the mortgage acceptance. Should i chase this up.

Anyone here with HSBC? Wondering how long they typically take to receive documents from their branches. Vendor is on my back a little bit and HSBC haven't got my docs yet.

    Timeline so far:
    14/07/2013 - AIP from Nationwide :)
    15/07/2013 - Offer accepted :)
05/08/2013 - Full Application Declined by Nationwide :(
    09/08/2013 - AIP & conditional approval from HSBC :)
13/08/2013 - Forms received & documentation submitted in branch

HSBC don't seem to SMS or email me about anything - does anyone know if they'll do this when the valuation is booked, or will I have to rely on snail-mail?

Got the e-mail this morning, keys ready to collect. I now smell all musty having spent the last four hours measuring up and removing flowery carpets...!

Three months of delays, lost mail, staff on holiday, underwriter inquisitions and threats to pull out finally over..!

Good luck to all of you still waiting!

The further reports NatWest requested went to them yesterday AM. When should I be chasing them up?

As I have discovered - it takes 'up to seven hours' to get stuff scanned in before it's visible - so depends whether it was sent by post or faxed - and then underwriters look at it usually by close of the following business day (but it can take longer).

It does no harm to start chasing ASAP... We've had faxes 'go missing' five times during our app...

Right so my application has been dragging for weeks.... actually the application went in on 18th June... and we've been sending documents to them left, right and center... and then waiting for weeks on end to have a final decision from them!

    So progress so far...

They had the last batch of docs sent to them last Thursday, and when I called today, they say it is now with the underwritters and I should get a decision in the next 24- 48 hours.... which will be Tuesday next week!

So that means I have yet another weekend to try and survive with my nerves!!!!!

It's all getting a bit much now.... but all I can do is wait!!!!

After sending in all my documentation (not as much as I had assumed reading here), am awaiting the valuation on the house paid for on the 7th august.
Then I have to wait for the valuation on my house which was apparently paid for over 2 weeks ago. Then we are good to go.....well someway there. :)

Valuation completed yesterday. Just a nervous wait now for Natwest to review it and hopefully make an offer. Never said this before, but I can't wait until Monday.

Well, I'm going to join you all too!

Remortgaging from Santander (who would only offer 4.99% on a 2yr fix) to West Brom BS to a 5yr 3.39% fix at 80% ltv.

    AIP 16 Aug
Full application and credit check approved 17 Aug

Waiting for long list of items beginning of next week, followed by the dreaded valuation to give us the 80% ltv.

Bit concerned with a few negative reviews online about the time they take to do things but we're not time dependent as current fix doesn't end till mid Oct.

As for MA, I went through a major one but could only come up with a mortgage costing £60pm extra plus £1000 fees, and solicitors and valuation fees. Went for a bit of online searching and this was one of the first to come up. Wondering if a 10yr I'd would have been a safer option ;)

Hope everyone else's mortgages come through soon.
30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.

    Hi everyone!

Mattsday - we have an application approved and going through with HSBC

I had to submit our marriage certificate to a branch (did the app on the phone - which was fab - all done and agreed in an hour) they had got in on their system within 2 days

Re the valuation - HSBC and first direct send out all their offers subject to valuation which means that you get this generally BEFORE the valuation is done. Our valuation was done and with us in about 10 days but this might depend on where you are in the country?

Everything is done snail mail too - although you can ring their Mortgage Service Centre for updates - they seemed to be quite on the ball

Good luck everyone - We're just waiting to hear when our sellers new build is going to be finished and hopefully we can get on with exchanging!
