    Thanks ukbrockest -
Seems like Natwest are one of the slowest then. I'm paranoid/worried that they'll do the same and offer us 85% instead of 90%

I've gone from full application on the 26th of April, survey done and satisfactory on the 8th of May, to expecting the full offer in writing come Monday/Tuesday 12/13th May

This is with Natwest, before i was worried too everyone saying they're the slowest, maybe i was lucky and got someone competent handling my case? Goodluck:beer:

8/5/2014 Surveyor happy with valuation and Natwest say full mortgage offer will be in place in next 48 hours :j:beer::money:

Was on here expecting weeks and months for natwest reading some reports, but from full application to full offer we're looking at 2 weeks
(ish) couldn't be happier, just waiting on the solicitors now

Great news to all who have been stressed throughout this difficult process. :)
Our journey so far........Santander/Abbey application 17th March, valuation accepted and full mortgage approval 26th April, got paper copy 9th May.:)

Now for searches to return, sent 1 week ago........
Will be keeping up to date with every1's progress.....what a journey of ups and downs and stress. :)
  • We're in the holding pattern too. Mortgage with Lloyds - concessionary purchase. We're in Scotland.
    22nd April - AIP given
25th April - Phoned back to take to full application and told would get a call back at the start of the following week. nothing
1st May - phoned and finally got to speak to someone, went through application
2nd May- they called back with recommendation. Meantime, valuation report has come through.
3rd May - payslips and confirmation of gifted equity letter posted off.
6th May - hear from mortgage processing team. Won't accept the mortgage valuation even though it was done by someone on their panel. Insisting on a full home report...back to the surveyor!
8th May - full home report done
9th May - home report released. Email processor to tell them...turns out they work a 4 day week! Back to waiting until Monday then!

Apparently it will take their valuations team (Colleys, same as Halifax use I think) a week to review the home report! I blooming hope not...
  • Hello everyone! I think this thread has made me even more tense haha, but at least it is good to be around people in the same situation!

    07/04/14 AIP
    10/04/14 Saw property (new build)
    10/04/14 Paid reservation fee
16/04/14 Received confirmation of reservation and exchange deadline of 29/05
24/04/14 Memorandum of sale received by MA
    30/04/14 (?) full application made
06/05/14 Deposit paid to solicitor to start searches

    Current situation: nail biting
The mortgage is with Abbey/Santander so reading this thread has made me worried - anyone got any happy stories about applying with them?!
4 Bank holidays fall within the 6 week reservation period - bad timing!

Hi all, new to this thread - just done full mortgage application and waiting to hear further.

11th March - AIP received from Natwest

Started looking for properties, viewed 9 in total before finding the right one.

21st April - Saw property, was a bank holiday so vendor did viewing herself as EA closed that day, decided that afternoon we wanted to put in offer but as agents shut we had to wait.

22nd April - 9am put in offer 7k under asking price, continued to chase EA all day as they couldn't get hold of vendor.

5.20 EA called to say offer rejected and they wanted another 3k. Counter offered 2k more than original offer, advised EA that this was final offer.

    5.30 EA advise offer accepted!

23rd April - Call to L&C as wanted to see if any other better mortgage rates available. Very unhelpful and told me I would have to wait to do anything as would be going on holiday shortly and they wouldn't even bother looking at rates until I get back.

    Solicitors instructed.

24th April - went into Natwest branch to make mortgage appointment as didn't want to waste time waiting for l&c, was told that due to new MMR rules coming into force shortly then long wait for appointment, earliest they could do was 6th which was while I was away, appointment finally arranged for my return on the 9th May.

30th April - Memorandum of sale received from estate agents.

9th May - 10am Mortgage appointment in branch at Natwest, offered much better rate than previously, borrowing 85% over 35 years, fixed for 2 years. Full application and credit scoring done.
Mortgage advisor says that application will be submitted today and that we should hear back mid week next week from the underwriters and confirmation when we need to pay for the valuation.

3pm - Mortgage advisor asks for proof of deposit, emailed over copy bank statements.

    Solicitors currently awaiting contract papers.

Anxiously waiting now to hear further from Natwest that everything is ok at underwriting stage and can proceed to valuation. Fingers crossed!

Hi all, was very stressed for no reason when we first applied, everything's gone smooth so far though so feeling much better now (born worrier).

9th April - Viewed house we loved.

10th April - Offer made below asking price. Outbid by someone, raised offer to asking price and asked to take off market, outbid by £500! Raised offer to 1K over asking price, other bidder dropped out, offer accepted.

11th April - Saw mortgage broker for advice, took some details, arranged appointment for 16th. Broker was going to find us best rate with lender who would lend to us in meantime (Girlfriend was about to start new job).

15th April - Broker rang and advised Nationwide, we agreed, he carried out DIP with Nationwide which was accepted.

16th April - Full application submitted to Nationwide.

28th April - Text from Nationwide to advised valuation booked for 29th

30th April - Text to say valuation satisfactory, broker rang and said they had valued at original asking price and retained the extra 1k we bid over asking price. Spoke to EA to revise offer, vendor accepted. MB advised Nationwide of drop in price.

1st May - Text from Nationwide saying mortgage offer issued!

5th May - Mortgage offer received in post based on old purchase price.

8th May - Text from Nationwide saying revised mortgage offer issued!

We've done very little and the broker has been excellent. Well worth the small charge! He's always ringing us to keep us updated.

We only instructed a solicitor last week so let the waiting game begin...

Cheers everyone, hope you all get through it with as little stress as possible! Very excited to own our first home together!

What I have been wondering is ; Do the solicitors wait for the mortgage offer before they start searches ? Common sense says yes, but they cashed the cheque the day after I took it in !

    Anyone know ?

They'll begin the searches as soon as possible as it's all public record. You're paying for that separately and not from your mortgage (unless you've rolled that cost into the mortgage).

They may confirm the deeds with the vendor first however.

Thank you. I didn't want to ask them as they may charge me for the question. So they have probably done that then. Ours is a "no chain" either side and I'm trying to second guess how long it may take.(as you do) We are just awaiting valuation report (which we should get Monday/Tuesday)
We wanted to exchange end May, don't think that is likely though !
