21/01/2104 -Seller has pulled out, he has wasted everyone's time.
Not that gutted really, wasn't meant to be. Back to rightmove.
Long time since I updated.
Long story short found another house which after the survey we decided to walk away.
Found 3rd house, offered accepted.
28/04 Full application with Halifax
06/05 Valuation instructed - however, the asking price was keyed in incorrectly, 10k too much and the valuation can't take place until it's corrected, which I'm told will be a quick process so hoping the valuation will be booked in tomorrow.0 -
so after being told last week that we would hear something this week we've now had a phonecall to say it is with the underwriters and we will hear something by monday next week (which will be the 10th week)
REALLY regretting going with abbey now0 -

A bit of tooing and froing to get the memorandum of sale from EA from here
2nd April Met Halifax mortgage advisor & aplication started
10th April Valuation carried out by bank
17th April Received valuation - all OK!
19th April Met Halifax advisor again to discuss insurance - have to add second job onto application for mortgage
24th April Our HomeBuyers Report carried out - Surveyor called to say no major problems & Solicitors received local and mining searches back
25th April Halifax mortgage advisor e-mailed to say mortgage has now been offered!
I am so glad they got back to us on Friday and not let us stew for the weekend! And hopefully we just dodged the worst of the new MMR checks too! I am so excited/anxious now to be able to get moving! Now we have done all we can we just need to hope our vendors find suitable accommodation for themselves, lovely elderly couple going into sheltered accommodation.
I feel like we've made a massive leap for our purchase all of a sudden! Our offer finally came on Saturday, so called the solicitors to see if they had a copy to start them dong queries, they received it today so they will be doing that shortly. So call the EA to update them and hope for an update on the vendors. We've always been under the impression that the vendors can't really start looking until we had out mortgage offer, so expected them to start looking properly now - elderly couple going into residential care at the other end of the country, they were going to rent or buy depending but the EA said they can't put money down that far in advance and this was only the other week. The usual EA wasn't there so another looked at the file to say the vendors have had their searches back and have raised enquiries! So apparently they are buying and they are one step ahead of us!0 -
Seeing how quickly people who had chosen Halifax move along the process really makes me regret letting our broker pick Accord.
07/05/2014 - Still nothing from either the Broker or Accord since the submission of the full mortgage application over a week ago.
How long should I wait before I tell the broker to run an application with Halifax in parallel?0 -
Nationwide have been very very good so far - just had a stalling point due to a minor error on their end - called yesterday and was assured I would know about my mortgage offer by the end of today. Every minute is painful waiting..........0

We've been waiting 9 WEEKS now for a final decision from Abbey and it keeps going back and forth to the underwriters.
Surely I can run another application in parallel? I cannot afford to wait 9 weeks, I will lose the house. And already, less than 2 weeks into the process, Accord come back to our broker with questions that were answered in the first week.0 -
