Full Application in on 8th April - Approved on 2nd May. Not bad considering a couple of those working days were bank holidays.

The struggle wasn't so much with them paperwork wise, but with our employers, as our working situations are a bit odd - so just required clarification.

If you have a more straightforward situation I imagine it will pass pretty quickly - plus you have a broker - never making the mistake of not using one again ! The amount of money I've spent calling 0845 numbers alone would justify it!

Oh - and we live in Scotland so the order is a bit different - valuation was done before our full app was submitted!

I finally bit the bullet last week and applied for mortgage with Halifax, got a call following day asking for paperwork which I sent today as they need original payslips (mines are all downloaded from company website). Valuation is booked for 15th this month and I'm really nervous! butterflies

I have been waiting 8 days since valuation for my offer, so called this afternoon and was told that my payslips I sent in on the 11th April had not been looked at and no one had set it as a task to be looked at so they were just sat there >_< I tried to be good and wait but thank god I called!! Was told today worst case scenario I will receive my offer end of Wednesday.

Finally got a call about the mortgage being approved. Will have the offer in the mail next week! Leeds took like 10 days to send me a copy of the valuation report, though, so you never know. :p

I submitted my application with Halifax through a broker yesterday and the valuation fee was taken from my account today, can anyone tell me if this is a good sign? Also checked mine and my partner's experian and there's searches on there from bank of scotland today!!

Hopefully we will hear by the end of next week! Question for brokers - do halifax work a saturday? would be great if they could process tomorrow as nothing will move until tuesday now with the bank holiday!

Here is our story so far, we are using a broker who has been fantastic. Had some issues with my credit file at the start but managed to get a delinquent account reversed (long story). Fingers tightly crossed, I am finding the whole thing highly stressful, my partner is the polar opposite.

    18/03 House viewed
    01/04 AIP from Halifax
    03/04 Offer made and rejected
07/04 Second offer after viewing - Accepted
    08/04 Solicitors instructed
12/04 Full mortgage application & valuation paid
    16/04 Valuation takes place

    Estimated date of completion 02/06/14

Here is an update as to where we are:
25/04 Halifax ask for reference from partners job to prove salary as she has just started a new job - had to be sent snail mail!
28/04 Copy of valuation report received - all fine
01/05 Halifax have reference but not on standard form - underwriter checking if its ok
02/05 Halifax have now requested a letter/CV to prove my partner has worked in a similar field for at least three years as this contract is only for 9 months (mat cover)
02/05 Letter sent to Halifax - And we are back to waiting!

Whole process is dragging on, really hoping we get that mortgage offer letter through the post:(
