    Update:
1 January- Got a DIP (technically a "mortgage certificate") from Coventry building society

In between we found a new build home that we liked (unexpected and weren't looking for a new build), which eliminated Coventry as an option.

20 March - Sent PIF and reservation form into Help to Buy agent for the Equity Loan Scheme
21 March - Reserved plot and paid reservation fee
22 March - Received ATP letter from Help to Buy agent
25 March - Did a formal mortgage application with Leeds Building Society, which was successful (first computer bit, not to underwriter yet). Broker has payslips, etc.
28 March - Full documents formally sent in to Leeds (25th was the step with computer credit check apparently).
11 April 2014 - Leeds asked for my last three months of bank statements. They already had these but it had been so long since submission of documents that they were now missing the last month. Documents provided.
14 April 2014 - The builder asked what was going on and I blamed Leeds.
17 April 2014 - Leeds asks for proof I've lived at my address for the past three years. Documents sent in.
    17 April 2014 - Valuation Instructed for the 24th
24 April 2014 - Valuation at correct value
    26 April 2014 - Chase Leeds
29 April 2014 - Builder asks what is going on and wants to sell to someone else since our reservation is expired for 2 weeks now! We chase Leeds who says they didn't like my proof of address and want us to send DIFFERENT ones. Why didn't they just say this at the time?

    Leeds is a complete nightmare!!!

Now, in comparison with other banks, I'm astonished by Halifax's speed.

I see others on this thread waiting weeks for a valuation. I am waiting less than 24 hours. Is this a record?!

    +1

After almost 2 months of a hellish experience with another lender (post MMR!) and not even having the survey instructed, Halifax have approved me and had the survey done in 5 days!

I am waiting for the survey on Wed with Halifax and hope that they will offer me a mortgage. After the survey is done will they ask for any more documents to check my outgoings or identity or whatever? They have only asked for a payslip and called the employer to confirm that I work there.

Hi all, I saw this thread and wanted to join the waiting game! Me and my partner are FTB (10% cash/90% LTV) and have found a 1 bedroom flat that we fell for.

We had the 2/3 hour meeting yesterday with the mortgage lender after having an AIP with them since last month. Both of our credit checks came back as 'excellent' (confirmed yesterday during the meeting). Neither of us have ever taken out any commerical/payday loans etc. (Although, I do have a small amount left to pay on an 'income contingent' student loan - but this didn't seem like anything to worry about when I mentioned it to the MA yesterday).

Hopefully we hear something/get an answer within the next week (but I know it may take longer from reading some of your experiences).

5/4/2014 - Viewed property and offer made on same day.
8/4/2014 - AIP given by lender.
11/4/2014 - Revised offer accepted (after some days of negotiating).
    14/4/2014 - Solicitors instructed.
22/4/2014 - Property taken off market.
30/4/2014 - Meeting with mortgage lender, information passed to underwriters etc.

Here's to hoping we can secure the mortgage! I underestimated how stressful and worrying the homebuying process would be.

hey everyone I thought I would join in since I have been lurking on here the past few weeks! our process so far has been:

4th march- dip approved with Halifax
6th April- found new build house that we fell in love with, agreed offer with developers
13th April - help to buy Scotland application submitted
25th April - help to buy application approved with authority to proceed
1st May- new dip with Halifax due to mmr changes, full application submitted!

I suppose it's just a waiting game now! is it a good sign if the valuation fee is taken from your account? my broker said to keep an eye out for that and he seems to think we will be approved no problem. good luck everyone!

Congratulations!! We are still waiting for the outcome of our valuation that took place on Tuesday. How long has it taken from valuation to offer for you from Virgin? I know you've had a bit of a paperwork struggle with them.
