    Hello all,

I've been reading, with great interest, everybody's posts for the last few weeks and thought I would join in the waiting queue...

01/04 - Viewed property, no chain - (Had AIP from Santander - 95% LTV HTB)
    02/04 - Placed offer - accepted!
03/04 - Rang Santander to progress application, was told two week wait for telephone appointment. So managed to book earlier in-branch appointment.
08/04 - Had in-branch appointment - computer said no  but could be possible if I had 15% deposit. Decided to try elsewhere.
09/04 - Tried Skipton BS - 90% LTV - Passed initial credit check & affordability checks. Following this I needed to make telephone appointment with Mortgage advisor to progress with application. Solicitors instructed.
16/04 - Telephone appointment with Skipton BS complete, full application now submitted (with a lot more docs than they requested - just in case!). Await decision from underwriters, but could take another 10 days for mortgage offer.

25/04 - Underwriter has contacted me to take payment for valuation.
    Valuation booked for 28/04.

Subject to valuation, am I home and dry or will MMR rear it's ugly head next week??
  • Valuation done yesterday morning with Santander. Broker let me know of offer late afternoon.
Papers being sent to solicitors. Looking to exchange next week woooo. Finally, been such a long and stressful process. (Submitted application, end of March).
    Good luck all!!!

22/4 E-mail from mortgage broker, saying she has checked Natwest's timescales today and it will be 5 working days to start a new case, a bit confused, is this just backlog??

We submitted our application to Natwest on 17th April too! Had a call from out MA on Thursday to say there is a 5 working delay at Natwest.

    Fingers crossed.

6 weeks? That seems like forever.
Why is it when house buying a week feels like a year? I'm usually such a patient person!

  • We finally exchanged on Thursday, the vendors solicitors are incompetent, and held things up for weeks.

My only issue is that we don't complete til 23rd May and I'm worried the lender will decide to re-assess our application under the new rules and loose the mortgage. The new few weeks are going to be stressful :(

reading all reviews of natwest, they sound terrible. people saying they've lost the deal due to natwest being so slow. I used a mortgage broker to point me in the right direction, and they've chosen nat bloody west :-s

Can I join in? Only just found this one! Can't quite go on the "Waiting to exchange" thread as not signed contracts yet! Only slightly late to the party! We are FTB's In South Yorkshire buying a 3 bed semi for £100k with Halifax as our bank

25th February Viewed House (all ready had AIP)
1st March 9:30am Viewed again with parents
    1st March 12:30pm Made offer
    1st March 15:15 Offer Accepted
7th March Met estate agent to prove finances and AIP
    11th March Appointed local solicitors
A bit of tooing and froing to get the memorandum of sale from EA from here
2nd April Met Halifax mortgage advisor & aplication started
10th April Valuation carried out by bank
17th April Received valuation - all OK!
19th April Met Halifax advisor again to discuss insurance - have to add second job onto application for mortgage
24th April Our HomeBuyers Report carried out - Surveyor called to say no major problems & Solicitors received local and mining searches back
25th April Halifax mortgage advisor e-mailed to say mortgage has now been offered!

I am so glad they got back to us on Friday and not let us stew for the weekend! And hopefully we just dodged the worst of the new MMR checks too! I am so excited/anxious now to be able to get moving! Now we have done all we can we just need to hope our vendors find suitable accommodation for themselves, lovely elderly couple going into sheltered accommodation.
