I've been feeling like this lately too! Often can't contact our MA via phone so call our lender for an update. Then if they need anything it has to go through our MA not directly from us adding yet more time to an already slow process.

I've started phoning directly and they are happy to speak to me I've also asked them to call me direct if the offer is approved so I don't need to wait for MA , I won't be using one again put it like that.

They're happy to speak to me directly but insist documents are sent via our broker and also confirmation we wanted to proceed with valuation whilst we were waiting for them to process our application. For me I feel it's just added more stress but I'm slowly getting there!
  • May I join the thread? It's got to the point now where I feel we've done all we can and sounds like there may still be a long wait...
22/02 viewed the property (open house)
    24/02 best and final offers
24/02 lost to a higher offer
26/02 higher offer could not proceed so seller has accepted our offer
    27/02 new AIP from L&C
04/03 mortgage application submitted to NatWest
    06/03 supporting paperwork sent
07/03 visited branch to have passports copied
12/03 instructed NW to instruct survey now at risk of losing survey fee if the application is rejected - needed to hurry as our offer was only accepted subject to survey being booked within 14 days of sale
18/03 chased NW re survey and they had only instructed surveyors yesterday
18/03 surveyor has contacted agent and survey likely to be 26th March

So if it's up to two weeks from survey until full offer we could be waiting for another three weeks! Which I don't fancy but nothing we can do. Chain is now closed so I'm just reassuring the vendor's agent we're doing all we can and hoping they believe we're their fastest way of completing the sale and won't go looking for other offers. The agent says they want to complete on 18 April which seems very ambitious!

This is in London so I'm also nervous about the valuation matching price although we didn't offer above asking price.

Fingers crossed our actual application has no problems - it shouldn't as both have permanent jobs, same address for past three years, no unpaid debts etc, and borrowing well within limits given in AIP.
  • Here is my timeline so far with skipton building society, they're taking forever :(

12th Feb - offer accepted on house
25th Feb - Broker AIP with skipton (previous AIP wit different lender but they upped the interest rate)
2nd March - Broker submits full app with skipton
5th March - All documents sent from broker to skipton
13th March - Skipton ask for outstanding student loans balance via broker, provided info to them the same day.
17th March - call skipton directly for an update to say it will be another 4-5 working days before they can look at our documents

Conclusion is skipton seem to be incredibly slow. We decided today to take the risk and instruct valuation as it's just taking so long!

    19th March - Valuation booked for tomorrow :j :j

Oh our broker told us they were quick to offer after the survey. May have gone mad if the whole process with them is going to be this slow :(

Just an update for you GolfFoxtrot. My buyers had their survey done on the 6th and their mortgage was offered yesterday (18th). They haven't received the paper copy yet though....

    Hi all

Can anyone give me some advice?

I have a MIP with Natwest (95% mortgage - on my own). I have now found a house, put an offer in thats been accepted, instructed sols etc...

I met with my MA saturday and literally gave him everything, bank statements, pay slips, P60, proof of deposit and proof of gift from my dad, ID, the lot.

I'm just wondered how long its likely to take to get a full mortgage offer (provided they give me one!)

Anyone put an application in with Natwest recently that can give me an idea of timescales?

    Thanks
