I wish mine was 6 days too, we are waiting to hear any day now, Santander have confirmed they have all the documents they need and that it is with underwriters. Today I'm feeling just fed up with the whole thing.

Our broker isn't the best - I think next time I'll just dump my principles at the door, as I thought it best to use someone local to keep money in local area. To be fair, fee isn't payable until completion for broker, but they aren't very pro active.

Today is the first day our lovely rental has seemed more appealing than all this waiting. Maybe I'll just go and spend the deposit on a very flash new car...

Hang in there. Our application was sent from our branch to underwriters on Tuesday 18th, and Santander website as of last night says they're looking at applications sent to underwriters on 17th. I guess we'll see how reliable that information is in the next day or so. Makes you feel sick doesn't it!

    Thanks for that!

Just made a call, spoke to a pleasant, friendly chap who says it will be underwritten by close of business today and Valuation instructed tomorrow - provided of course the underwriting goes ok.

Sort of a little bit more relaxed now.

The vendors are getting impatient too - not much I can do though!

7/03/2014- AIP with MB, Halifax will pay stamp duty!
    7/03/2014- Viewed property, beautifully perfect.
8/03/2014- Put offer in and accepted!!!
8-10/03/2014- Read numerous posts and threads and got myself into a state that something would go wrong! Decided to go into branch and speak to a MA (Halifax!)
11/03/2014- Visited branch and spoke to a lovely lady who reassured me all looks well. AIP also completed with her and came back for what we needed to borrow but... AIP needed to be sent off for extra validation.

    Okay, quick update...

14/03/2014- AIP and full credit scoring came back fine! (I've moved a lot over the last few years so they needed to manually credit check me!)
    14/03/2014- Full application submitted.
15/03/2014- Need a gift deposit letter from parents.
    18/03/2014- Valuation booked!
    20/03/2014- Valuation day!!!!!! Fingers crossed
20/03/2014- Gift deposit letter received with MA, all ok!

Now just waiting for the valuation to come back and I think we're good to go! We are submitting our solicitor details on Saturday as a family member is doing this for us but has been away on holiday.

So 14 days since we viewed our dream home and we are well on our way to it!

I applied to natwest on 21/2 with broker - broker did the chasing I got the news yesterday that natwest have offered the loan and the paperwork is on its way - all the timescales i was given by natwest were correct i was told the following (im in scotland)

4-6 weeks for decision as im porting application is paper and not electronic so takes a bit longer
    2-3 undewriter to look at
then come back with anything else they need
then homebuyer refresh report need doing
then 7 days for that to be looked at by natwest surveyors
then that gets sent to underwriters to look at
then 2-3 days back with underwriter.
    then 2-3 for offer

I had refresh homebuyers done on 10/3 got told about offer on 19/3 letter will probably get here in next couple of days.

Hope that helps a bit. But your broker should be chasing them. Fingers crossed.

    FWIW "chasing" them achieves nothing.

More phone calls asking how long = less work done.

Lenders have service level agreements, which say they have x amount of time to do a certain thing.

We allow them that, then when they fall out of SLA we can escalate it via our BDM and get something done. Just because we aren't on the phone every day doesn't mean we aren't fully up to date with what's happening.

Lenders are gearing up for MMR next month and trying to shift bigger quantities of business than they expected on the run-up to this.

chasing them gives you more than the MA saying no update when actually there is an update though. MA said on monday wasnt sure if they had received transcript of home report yet .. wasnt sure doesnt help me so i called them to ask for update and they advised me transcript received and all o.k. So there was an update MA clearly just didnt want to get it. The people that answer the phones arent normally the ones that are doing the work they are merely just call centre handlers so an additional call doesnt let less work on the actual mortgage done.
