Here is my timeline so far with skipton building society, they're taking forever :(

12th Feb - offer accepted on house
25th Feb - Broker AIP with skipton (previous AIP wit different lender but they upped the interest rate)
2nd March - Broker submits full app with skipton
5th March - All documents sent from broker to skipton
13th March - Skipton ask for outstanding student loans balance via broker, provided info to them the same day.
17th March - call skipton directly for an update to say it will be another 4-5 working days before they can look at our documents

Conclusion is skipton seem to be incredibly slow. We decided today to take the risk and instruct valuation as it's just taking so long!

The people that are buying my house are using the Skipton - i agree that they're really slow. After the buyers submitted all their paperwork it took another 2 weeks for Skipton to even start booking a valuation. It's now been 10 days since their valuation and they still haven't received an offer!
  • Hi guys, just wanted to join you all :) good luck with your applications. We are 3rd time buyers but living with family at the moment.
    My story so far...................

04/03 viewed house loved it, applied for AIP with nationwide and accepted online.
05/03 put offer in with estate agent
    06/03 offer accepted yippee
    07/03 Solicitor instructed
10/03 put in full mortgage application with nationwide paid fees
12/03 home buyers report on house done was satisfactory
13/03 received copy of home buyers report via email, confirmation of documents been received from nationwide.

Will be popping to solicitor to do ID and searches payment and hand forms in tomorrow.....

Just a quick up date on my process:

14/03 had phone call from Nationwide saying some of my documents werent showing clearly so popped down to my local branch to get them to send them on my behalf.

Am having doubts now as i realised I mis calculated my Husbands pay I put his earnings as £26k a year but they are actually £24.5k plus any bonuses (not guaranteed)
My Pay was correct as I did it from my Wage slip £16610 and £1617.60 child benefit per annum plus we have got 2 kids (I did declare them when doing the DIP). Does anyone think we will get declined on this basis? we want to borrow £151K on a £185K House. Really worried now :(

If the bonus payments are visible on his payslips, if you have no childcare or other outgoings, the affordability calculator output is upto £183,300, depending on the term.

  • thanks Kingstreet, We dont pay any child care as we are fortunate enough to have my parents looking after the kids (I know extremely lucky). We dont have any debts at all we do have credit cards but they all carry zero balances and we dont have an over draft. I 'm just worried because it makes me look like I was lying on the application when I truly am that daft. His most recent pay slip doesnt show any bonus as this time of year is rather quiet in the Motor trade (he's a mechanic). I guess I'll just have to be patient with it. I didnt know if they would reject us out-right because I have mis-calculated his pay.

Oh our broker told us they were quick to offer after the survey. May have gone mad if the whole process with them is going to be this slow :(

i wouldnt worry too much, Nationwide checked our payslips and needed to amend the application as what I said was slightly more. I think it does get re-run against the new figures but ours still went through fine
  • Thanks adzy77 I'm paranoid about the whole thing as the house is perfect for what we need and all being well it will be our forever home :)
