Anyone want to join me? Awaiting Mortgage decision...

I've been reading this thread for a few weeks now and its only fair to add my dates so far. We're going through Coventry Building Society direct and not through a broker.
05/02 House available on rightmove/zoopla/primelocation
06/02 House viewing
07/02 Offer made on our house
10/02 We viewed three houses
11/02 Made offer on house to buy (which was accepted)
17/02 Mortgage paperwork submitted
18/02 Survey on our house done
24/02 Survey carried out on house we're buying
03/03 Proof of earnings from accountant sent to mortgage company
Apparently our paperwork is in the 'queue' to be processed. I was told on the phone yesterday that Coventry are working on paperwork from the end of February. Our paperwork (after they took over a week to ask my accountant for proof of earnings) got into the 4th March pile I believe. Told to call back on Monday of next week. It's funny, the estate agent for the house we want to buy told us that Santander were really slow. Seems like Coventry aren't much quicker at the moment.
Another week of waiting... We've borrowing a tiny amount of what they were willing to lend us and have a small (26%) LTV. Hopefully the underwriters will just tick the right box and move on to no doubt more complicated/risky applications.0 -
I submitted my application on 17th Febraury and what has caused me the most pain has been the employers reference request. My employer wont use fax and the bank I am applying to wont use email!! So its been via snail mail.
They wouldnt accept the first reference as I forwarded via fax (to see if I can speed up the process), the 2nd reference was posted from my HR department but for some reason even though saying it was sent on headed paper it was sent on blank!
I rang HR today absolutely fuming... They said they will send it out today via overnight post so should be with the lender tomorrow morning.
I am just worried they will think I have been messing around and it might impact my acceptance?
Who knew buying a house was this stressful!0 -
To add my experience so far.....
30/1 - AIP from Santander
02/02 - Start viewing property
19/02 - Offer accepted on property
26/02 - Meeting with broker to complete application
27/02 - Application submitted
04/03 - Informed all documentation hadn't been submitted by broker's PA. Documents fully sent through and sent to the back of the queue!
11/03 - Informed that documents have been underwritten by Santander and valuation instructed......
As a FTB this is all, obviously, new to me.....if application has been underwritten, does this mean that subject to a satisfactory valuation and solicitor stuff we are nearly there? In other words, can we start packing?0 -
We have had an email today to say that the underwriters are happy with all the paper I submitted and now I'm in a ready for offer queue, so fingers crossed that's a good sign0

First time poster && first time buyer!
After reading hours and hours worth of comments and threads and also getting myself into a worrying state I thought I would join in the fun!
I never thought that buying a house would be this stressful or worrying!
So,
7/03/2014- AIP with MB, Halifax will pay stamp duty!
7/03/2014- Viewed property, beautifully perfect.
8/03/2014- Put offer in and accepted!!!
8-10/03/2014- Read numerous posts and threads and got myself into a state that something would go wrong! Decided to go into branch and speak to a MA (Halifax!)
11/03/2014- Visited branch and spoke to a lovely lady who reassured me all looks well. AIP also completed with her and came back for what we needed to borrow BUT...
AIP needed to be sent of to the underwriters for extra validation?! The MA at the end of the AIP had our credit reports printed out and said there is absolutely nothing to suggest that this is a problem and is more than confident it will go through. Halifax, as far as I am aware, base their credit scoring on an A,B,C system they create themselves. She said she would expect us to come back as an A so not to worry... Not worrying of course, I am pulling my hair out over this.
It doesn't look good at the fact even our AIP has been sent of for extra validation does it?!
Facts about us:
Joint application, income totalling- £58k
Credit Report from Credit Expert- Good, no missed payments for either of us (I work in banking so make sure I look after my finances)!
Property Value- £229'950
Deposit of- £12'000 looking at 95% Help to Buy guarantee.
I now have the wait of hearing from my MA (who was brilliant BTW) the fact she had so much hope this would go through helped me believe it too. She however doesn't work WEDNESDAY! Typical ayy.
I now have a whole day of waiting and pulling hair out.
Has anyone else experienced this at all?
(Sorry for the long post!)0 -

I am the most impatient person ever and am on my second house move. Sorry to say that nobody on this forum can tell you what will happen, even if you post your life story. All you can do is have faith in the broker and wait for the call. Buying a house takes a long time and there are lots of agonising waits involved - most more than one day. From experience, I would recommend trying to do something else to fill the time because you've got 6, 8 or more weeks of waiting ahead of you. Your WILL get there in the end. Good luck with your application.0
