Submitted our application with Santander on the 11th of August. Got notification from Experian that 2 searches were done by Santander - assuming one was soft and one hard? We got confirmation that the survey was carried out yesterday too. Hoping it’s a quick turnaround now. Does anyone have any experience with Santander applications recently ?
Not Santander but nationwide have run two searches on me so far and both have been soft.
We have had one soft affordability search and that's it.

We applied 28/07, sent two lots of info in (they are being very picky about my SE) and now waiting on a letter from my employed job. Everytime anything is sent in its another week before it's looked at. Still waiting on the letter from work, hoping to get it in tomorrow. If it's the last thing (valuation was done last week) hoping to hear end of next week/beginning of sep.
Good luck! They haven't asked me for any more info, but valuation done last week and approved on Monday.
    Nationwide mortgage application (FTB)
Offer accepted on flat - 7/8
    DIP - 10/8
    Full application - 10/8
    Valuation Booked - 11/8
    Valuation received/approved -17/8
    Hard search (Equifax) - 20/8
    Offer received - 28/9

FTB here, pulling my hair out applied with nationwide via a MA on the 24/07, valuation booked in 04/08 and have heard nothing since. I have asked my MA to look into it and been told its theres a backlog and It might not be until the 28th of August until the app is reviewed. Should I have heard something by now regarding the valuation? I thought we would have at least had a text message from NW to say they have received the valuation?
Not necessarily it varies, our valuation was on 24/7 and they received the report on 31/7. I knew they had it because there were queries on the property price but only got the valuation received text on the day we got our offer on 13/8 so that was strange but some people get a text after 24-48hours. Their current service levels state 8 working days for valuation assessments but it could take less
ah okay hopefully I will hear anytime now because its been over 8 working days now!

    Santander DIP - 10th July
    Viewed property - 10th July
    Offer accepted - 13th July
Full application with Santander - 3rd August
Mortgage approved subject to valuation - 3rd August
    Valuation - 14th August
Valuation result (came in below purchase price) - 18th August
Agreed new purchase price - 20th August
We've negotiated a new purchase price which will result in us borrowing less to keep the same LTV, but putting more cash in now to make the difference between the valuation and new agreed price. We just need to get the paperwork amended and hopefully we're all sorted in the respect of the mortgage. Phew!

Hi all, FTB here and currently very nervous about this whole process, so it's great to see so many others in the same situation!

For those of you who've applied for mortgages already, I noticed that in lots of cases the lender did not request payslips until a few days after the full application was submitted. Does this mean you didn't need to provide the payslips at the point of application? I've recently had a pay rise at work - it's been backdated to March but this month's payslip will be the first reflecting my new salary. My employer has provided me with a reference letter but I know not all lenders accept this. I'm really worried that I won't be able to submit my full application until next week at the earliest as that's when I'll get my new payslip - in the meantime, it's been a week since my offer was accepted and I don't want the vendors or their EA to think I'm dragging my heels!

I don't have an appointment to speak with my broker about this until later in the week - all the questions and doubts are driving me crazy in the meantime.  :s
My mortgage advisor asked for all the payslips and other documents before my application was even submitted. They might not have asked her for them all, I have no idea, but at least she has them and doesn't have to ask me for them if they request anything
I actually managed to speak with my broker this morning. I'd already sent him all my existing payslips and bank statements and he was more than happy to obtain a DIP with Halifax whilst we were speaking - and then at the end of the call he actually submitted my full application!

What's more of a surprise, this afternoon one of his colleagues called to say Halifax had already completed the desktop valuation and were about ready to make me an offer. The only thing they require is for my employer letter to be addressed to them specifically (rather than 'To whom it may concern') and then, all things going well (fingers crossed!!), that should be it. Quite the 24 hours it's been.  :o Just hope my HR dept get a move on...

Halifax offered the second best rate - could have got a slightly better deal with HSBC but my broker advised that their service levels are shocking at the moment due to the current demand. As I'm in a bit of a hurry with my purchase, he said Halifax may be preferable as they're one of the quicker lenders. So far that seems like a fair comment but I don't want to jinx anything!

I hope you get your offer soon!

I keep seeing that people are getting quite quick feedback and offers from Halifax! Mortgage broker also advised them because of their speed but I am at the 3 week mark now today, valuation and everything has been done, but no news! very frustrating!

Oh no, not quite so positive! Fingers crossed for you and me both! My case manager did say she'd been on the phone with them for an hour and a half today, so maybe a bit of nagging helps to push things along.
  • How long does it usually take to get an offer from Santander once the valuation is done?
  • HSBC offer made 2 weeks after the application went in but subject to an EWS1 form. Its a 5 storey, brick clad block of flats
Back to the drawing board i suppose...
