  • Santander instructed the valuation for us 2 weeks ago, but the EA hasn’t heard anything at all yet. This waiting is killing me! We are just wanting to know if we should instruct the searches ... we don’t want to add to the time we have to stay paying £1500 pm in rent!

Nationwide timescales up to 22 working days as of yesterday. Think we're in it for the long haul 😂

That's quite a jump... It was 18 days the last time I looked! The 8 day wait for valuation assessments is the bit that has me worried now. My valuation was on Wednesday and report received the same day, but could now be waiting until the end of next week for a decision on it.
To be fair, my valuation was last Tuesday, and then on Monday I got the valuation received and reviewed/approved texts at the same time.
I had the report received text late on Wednesday night, so feels like it's being reviewed 😬

Hopefully it comes back soon! Your application was in two weeks before mine as well. I haven't been hard searched and they haven't asked for any other documents or asked any questions. I'm only on working day 9 🙈

I don't know whether it's a blessing or a curse to have the underwriter stage done up-front. I guess it's the same period of silence and uncertainty, just earlier on in the process. Good luck! 😅
I hope it's not much longer! My rent is due on the 1st and I'd like that to be my last lot of rent 😂

I've seen quite a few people say that Halifax are pretty quick at the moment

28th July: Put in offer, negotiated offer accepted

31st July: Apply for Mortgage and arange advisor meeting

21st August: Meeting with HSBC advisor (what a wait!)

I'm with Halifax (and Scotland) and I got my offer on Tuesday - the valuation request went in on Friday - so they have been pretty quick with me
  • Just had an email from my broker saying that my application is approved subject to valuation - but he thinks a desktop valuation has been done. This is with Santander, application was submitted on 11th August. So relieved after all the drama with HSBC and my old broker!

Super quick for me...well except at the last hurdle. I submitted my payslip online and showed by ID at a branch a few hours after my application went in. By the end of the next day the hard checks were done, ID and payslip accepted and valuation instructed. Nothing else needed from me, all they need is the valuation to finalise the offer.
Unfortunately trying to get the physical valuation sorted is taking much longer than expected...
  • Ok experts, help me to be able to sleep at night instead of stressing.......
£170k mortgage (House pride £215k) agreed with HSBC end of June, with 20% deposit, that fell through, since seen a bigger (more expensive house) would need a £220k mortgage, (house price £277k, again with a 20% deposit, I’m an old FTB, and can only have a 20 year mortgage, HSBC Calculators say I could borrow up the £300k, I earn £65k + a bonus...... no credit, company car etc.....
am I safe to start packing ........
