All is, or was, progressing smoothly with buying a home until we got the results back from the HomeBuyers survey, it wasn't a bad survey there is only one real problem that need looking into and thats the old back boiler behind the fireplace in the lounge.
I have a plumber going round to take a look at removing the back boiler and replacing it with a new more efficient combo boiler in the kitchen.
So my question, if this cost say £3,000 and I negotiate a reduction in the asking price do I need to make another full application for the newly negotiated price through my MA or will Abby just adjust the already agreed mortgage down to the new price?0 -
Congrats to those who have recently been approved :jWe still have no date for exchange or completion. Our broker called the EA last week for an update and was told they was too busy doing admin work to look into it. We are chasing solicitors and EA every day but getting nowhere.

We discussed a completion date with our solicitor yesterday, who needed to confirm it with all parties, which he said would happen yesterday afternoon. 24 hours and numerous phone calls later and we still have no idea whats going on. I've just sent an email basically saying if things don't start moving very quickly we will be pulling out.
I feel like crying! I don't how these people who move regularly do it!0 -
I applied for a mortgage through nationwide, initially everything seemed to be going smoothly. Sent in my paperwork, everything was approved, valuation was done, now I was awaiting my mortgage offer so I could complete then finally move into the house of my dreams!!
However when they received the valuation an technical error occurred. I called in and they advised it would take 48 hours for the issue to be resolved. 48 hours would lapse and I would call in again, and the would give me the same information. That there was a fault, the would call through to the technical team, and they advised yet another 48 hours wait before issue was resolved.
This went on for about 3-4 weeks!!
On the fourth week, I called in very frustrated now, I asked them to speak to a manager, was advised a manager would call me within 2 working days.
I did not receive a call back.
Called in again, they said the initial issue has been resolved an the Task team is looking into my application and a manger will ring me, I have been waiting a further 2 weeks and no phone call.
This whole application process has been very stressful, I'm scared I might loose the property I'm tying to buy and I'm starting to wish I had gone with a different lender.
Is this a common issue when applying for a mortgage?
Or does Nationwide's mortgages usually take this long to get sorted?:(0 -

Our sellers solicitor had already confirmed that they are ok to exchange contracts but now we're waiting for everyone else to get back to them...so frustrating.0
