Congrats Peyton!! Any news Swanny? If you don't today, I'm sure you will tomorrow. How strange that we've all heard so close together!
Hi all, I spoke to Natwest again at 5:45 and they tell me the underwriters have it still, they only got it at 1pm today so probably not had a chance to review. I guess there is a good chance Ill hear that its gone to valuation tomorrow (or not ;-( ).

it went in on the 16th July, so 10 days ago. Was a day or so delay as they asked for docs (that the MA already had).

Halifax kept claiming to of not received myn, until I reminded them that they already had told me they had them
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Maybe this is a daft question, but once you get confirmation of the offer being sent out (ie. you've not seen the offer yet but you know its in the post) does that mean they have confirmed they will provide you a mortgage or could that offer letter say you've been declined??

I'm stopping myself from asking my MA all these questions so I don't look daft :)

An offer is exactly that, an offer of a mortgage of £x.

It would be unusual, but the offer could be for less than you've requested, I guess. That hasn't happened to me in a long time, though.

  • Don't know if anyone can answer this....

Some lenders I note ask for a fee for the valuation up front. Do they only book in the valuation once the mortgage has been provisionally approved following the first credit/documentation check or do they book them all in anyway as a matter of course and then make the credit checks after the event? Thereby ensuring they keep the fee for the valuation survey regardless even if a credit check doesn't stack up?
