  • Hi, just after a little advice if you dont mind.

I have just ordered one of the phones from TMO and it will arrive sometime during this week, but after the very lengthy post above I am wondering if I should just return the phone when it arrives and be done with it?

The poster above highlighted some good points about the times and dates to get the Cash -Back vouchers in to TMO, just wondering if there is anyway you can request that the Service provider ( O2, Orange, T-Mobile etc) send you invoices early or not? maybe this is possible or they just cant do it.

Thanks to anyone for any more info, I'm a little nervous about these deals now.

NO, I don't think so. I tried requesting with my network provider before as I was about to go on a holiday then, but they just can't be bothered, saying it's a system-generated thingy.

But if you mean changing your billing date, then it is possible. Calculate wisely, choose (earlier) date where you can beat TMO's deadlines.

There's really something wrong or misleading with TMO's new T&Cs (read 11.4.2). And yes, Shelby made some good points there. It's 30 days from relevant installment date, NOT the usual 30 days from billing date. It's about 98% risk of losing cashback, not to mention postal strikes, bank holidays, and with possible missing mails in transit you wouldn't have ample time to request for a duplicate. There's chance of chasing cashback thru court, but loads hassles.

    Hope this helps. Goodluck!

I believe that The Mobile Outlet have made a few mistakes whilst trying to tighten up their criteria, too many people have claimed their money back correctly.

In tightening up their criteria, they've unwittingly outfoxed themselves.
Their terms are nigh on impossible to meet.

    The main problem is :

If The Mobile Outlet realise their mistake and honour failed cashbacks, they open the doors to all of their customers who fail to meet the new criteria. This will make their payout rate 100% , which is not what they projected to payout.

If they don't honour failed cashbacks, they will be submitting court papers more reguarly than they are at present. At £30 a pop plus paying out the cashback for the full term will put their cashflow in even more trouble.

*I believe a reputable company would rewrite the t's &c's with ones that can be met, and have an amnesty on the '1st August children'.

    *Expect them to soldier on.

Thanks very much for your work scouring the new T&Cs

As you alluded to in your parting shot about a courts take on this, again The Mobile Outlet have shot themselves in the foot as no court would uphold such unreasonable terms.

The real issue I think, that new customers should consider, is that the viability of TMO will be damaged, and their demise will be the reason people lose out.

Is there any way we can get this confirmed, through the CAB etc.?

We brought 2 identical contracts from tmo in May, have called tmo to ask whether it would be acceptable to sent both claims in one envelope. have been advised that this will be fine as long as a cover letter states the cash back is for two claims.

Does anyone have any experience of sending 2 claims in one envelope??

Both contracts are for the same address but belong to 2 different people.

    thanks

    The T&Cs online state:

11.5 Each instalment of the Line Rental Entitlement (Cashback) must be claimed individually. We are unable to accept more than one claim per envelope.

It's not my claim, but I would be tempted to get one envelope, put in one claim and letter, etc. then put that in another envelope with the other claim and letter, etc. Alternatively put in another blank empty envelope; two claims and two envelopes.

They could stick that up their T&Cs! :rotfl:

The t's & c's that taz63 has do not have that condition in as he/she is pre-August '07'.

I would do as you suggest in any case.

WARNING THE MOBILE OUTLET HAVE REMOVED THE OLD TERMS AND CONDITIONS FROM THEIR WEBSITE!!! CHECK, CHECK AND CHECK AGAIN THE ONES THAT CAME WITH YOUR PHONE!!!

e-mail them on at least 3 of their addresses, and send a letter through the post with the correct number on.

Your dispatch note will have your number on, so there is no genuine reason for you to receive anything other than your cashback in 28 days time :)
