Sorry, I have not worked out how to copy text yet!:o
I was not referring to comments about me. They were not offensive , so no worries there!
Iam grateful for the info and knew I could find it here, so thanks to those who have more knowledge than me and are happy to share it to stop me falling in to these traps. All I was saying was, that less of the you deserved it or should have known approach would help, that's all!;)

I don't think anyone "deserved it", but to think all would as advertised was perhaps naive. But people did go in blind and still do, I was one of them and only learned my little bit thanks to the experts on here.

However, they are now a ftse 100 company and highly unlikely to go bust - even IF they get their business model assumptions wrong. In addition, a large chunk of their income comes from their shops. They are therefore a much safer bet as far as not going bust is concerned. However, I have been consistently warning people NOT to enter into ANY cashback deals unless they REALLY understand what they're doing. Most simply do not. It seems people jump into these seemingly attractive contracts with little or no real research or questions. Like anything people buy of any real consequence, they really MUST look very carefully and research first - especially when it is perfectly clear to the most foolhardy person that they are being offered FAR more than they are paying! There is no way to escuse the lack of questioning and care when that is the case. I spend a considerable amount of time on here trying to prevent people ending up in a situation where they lose their money - but it really is usually a losing battle! Lynsey's point is also correct; I have been acutely aware that by helping so many I am actually harming my own interests, as others who help do too. I learned a long time back though that you cannot help the majority when there they are attracted by the gravity of an unbelievable deal. At least I have helped some extract themselves from the mire they have ended up in.
Bearing in mind that most internet sites out there are designed to make the company behind them look like a multi-national corporation, when in reality it is two people operating out of a spare bedroom, I think it is harsh to blame people for looking any less favourably on a TMO offer to one from e2save. Most won't have heard of either and won't feel the need to research (rightly or wrongly), but 'it's only a phone contract'.
We all start out naive, if we didn't then none of uswould have got a single contract from this outfit in the first place.

Not entirely. I spent about a year reading these and other threads etc. before I took out my first deal; I definitely could not aford to lose money on a mobile phone contract and so thought long and hard first and was very skeptical. I was far from naive when I did go for my first contract and when I did I went with the safest dealer at the time with a complete understanding about how their particular t&c were being used. I also knew they were part of cpw - and places like the Mobile Outlet were very small fry indeed. I didn't need to go to companies house to find those things out.
If it's "only a phone contract" then people can't complain when it all goes wrong. These threads are much more effective for people reading them before they enter into a contract; after that it becomes a rescue or salvage mission. In addition, if people are naive and acting as if it's "only a phone contract", why do many of them end up losing not a few hundred but a few thousand pounds? There are only two answers to that but they wouldn't be popular on here!0 -
Does anyone else think it's time to end the discussion on how we've all been mugged (or not) and replace it with one on damage limitation- reporting back on how the various networks are responding and the best safe mobile deals available now?
I've received a lot of help from this thread. I've managed to get some of my money back and I've lost some (and some to phones2uDirect probably), and I feel angry at having been ripped off, but I'm not going to take that anger out on people who are trying to help. I think it's a real shame that what started as a "support group" ethos has turned into a slanging match.0 -

Some time ago I wrote post number 32 for people in this situation. In fact I've written quite a lot of posts since my first little "guide". There is also some information on there on cpw/E2Save who are and always have been one of the safer bets - BUT only if people really know what they're doing (as I also repeatedly post - most people should not even think of doing a cashback deal for many reasons). I would also refer people to the thread on Mobile Affiliates - there's nothing on this thread that wasn't written a few months ago on that one. It is better to learn from what happened before; I did when Mobile Affiliates went under and managed to get a fantastic outcome given the situation with which I was faced. That thread actually adopted a far more objective and realistic approach to a similar situation and as a result helped quite a lot of people who were caught out. It is fruitless doing anything other than looking at the true options available rather then playing the blame-game which merely sends everyone up blind alleys.0 -

Even if they were in, it would be a wasted journey, sorry.
Easy to say, but forget it and put it down to a bad experience.
It's not even worth wasting the price of a second class stamp on this company now.
