What puzzles me about this now is exactly what the position is with Mobile Matters Ltd. and The Mobile Outlet? It does not seem that they have actually applied for administration or that any creditor has actually applied for a creditor's meeting so far? Has any such meeting been announced? Does anyone yet know exactly what the position is? Has there been any announcement of any meeting or of a receiver being appointed? Is The Mobile Outlet still trading? Their web site is still up and appears to be available at the time I post here.

One other thing that no one seems to have yet mentioned, is that if this shower were trading as "The Mobile Outlet" surely their assets would not be protected as a limited company's assets? If trading as The Mobile Outlet (an unlimited entity) their liabilities could be unlimited, and therefore surely the personal assets of the proprietors could be targeted? What is the view on this?
  • grayme-m:- That is correct, of course, Many deals on E2Save are and were not 12 months free. In addition their phones on such deals are usually "clearance" phones. However, they are now a ftse 100 company and highly unlikely to go bust - even IF they get their business model assumptions wrong. In addition, a large chunk of their income comes from their shops. They are therefore a much safer bet as far as not going bust is concerned. However, I have been consistently warning people NOT to enter into ANY cashback deals unless they REALLY understand what they're doing. Most simply do not. It seems people jump into these seemingly attractive contracts with little or no real research or questions. Like anything people buy of any real consequence, they really MUST look very carefully and research first - especially when it is perfectly clear to the most foolhardy person that they are being offered FAR more than they are paying! There is no way to escuse the lack of questioning and care when that is the case. I spend a considerable amount of time on here trying to prevent people ending up in a situation where they lose their money - but it really is usually a losing battle! Lynsey's point is also correct; I have been acutely aware that by helping so many I am actually harming my own interests, as others who help do too. I learned a long time back though that you cannot help the majority when there they are attracted by the gravity of an unbelievable deal. At least I have helped some extract themselves from the mire they have ended up in.
Northern Rock were a ftse 100 company....

    Read the thread...
  • As someone who who did not have time to do extensive research as suggested in this thread. As someone who is trusting at heart. As someone who entered in to to this with their eyes evidently closed, I am becoming infuriated by the suggestions of those people that I deserve this.

I was not aware of the implication of this, as I am sure many people were not. I feel guilty because I do have the mental capacity to and should have looked in to it further, but what about the others who may not.

I feel that in the current circumstances the people who have nothing better to say than you should have known or it was a bet etc etc should save their comments. They are not helpful.

How did you think you could get a free mobile phone and a full years free line rental on a 12 month contract....how would the mobile network providers stay in businesss if everybody got free airtime and a free phone?????
Think about it....it's not rocket science
  • Customers of Northern Rock still have the same t&c. I'd rather take my chances with a ftse 100 company than a minnow with a bad case of don't pay unless forced to cough up. However, as with all things, life is a risk.
  • Fair comment MJ,
Glad I didn't have the same number of shares in TMO that I have in NR...although they would probably have the same value....
  • Hi, I am just looking at this site again to get an update on the latest situation with TMO, as i was planning to pay them a visit on Tue to try to collect my £648 remaining cashback. I notice that they have now been delclared as being in Administration? Has anyone been to their site in the last week or so and successfully managed to get any money out of them or will i be wasting my time next week?
    Thanks
    Chezzi
  • Hi Cheryl,
If you read the last few pages of the thread you will discover that their premises are deserted...so don't waste your time visiting them...

    HTH
  • I did not think about it a great deal. I have admitted that. So, I guess that is my own fault. Hence the reason I am logged on as MobileDumbass. I was daft enough to think that I would be somehow protected under consumer legislation, somehow, somewhere. Stupid me.

Please , feel free to join in the insults, they make me feel better that I am £300 out of pocket. ;)

It is strange really, because I use this website religiouly and thought that the forums might be helpful in advising me what iIcan and can't do to get money back, having sent all statements in and them been received. I am now aware that I need not bother with anything. Which is helpful, so thanks to those posting objectively. I am disturbed at the vicious and personal attacks I have had to read to get this info though and think that people (despite my tongue in cheek comment above) who have lost sometimes siginificant amounts of money should really be spared this abuse.
  • I'm sorry that you are upset by my reply to your post...I didn't think I was being offensive or vicious and I didn't realise it was a tongue in cheek comment...but if you are sensitive then don't post dumbass questions...you aren't the only one who has lost money....
