As someone who who did not have time to do extensive research as suggested in this thread. As someone who is trusting at heart. As someone who entered in to to this with their eyes evidently closed, I am becoming infuriated by the suggestions of those people that I deserve this.

I was not aware of the implication of this, as I am sure many people were not. I feel guilty because I do have the mental capacity to and should have looked in to it further, but what about the others who may not.

I feel that in the current circumstances the people who have nothing better to say than you should have known or it was a bet etc etc should save their comments. They are not helpful.

I agree with you that no body deserves this. I am an avid MSER and when my son askedmy advice about getting an LG Chocolate phone last year I hunted around and foundhim a 12month free contract with TMO. He did not get any cashback and is preoparing togo to court. The bare facts are that TMO are thievesbut in thiscountry it seems that it is ok to rip people off and get away with it.
  • Hi rose,
you are absolutely right that these companies have been getting away with murder for so long, and it's unbelieveable that the law has allowed it to happen....I would think twice about your intended court action, and I would at least read the last 4-5 pages (if you haven't already) to get get other posters opinions...

What puzzles me about this now is exactly what the position is with Mobile Matters Ltd. and The Mobile Outlet? It does not seem that they have actually applied for administration or that any creditor has actually applied for a creditor's meeting so far? Has any such meeting been announced? Does anyone yet know exactly what the position is? Has there been any announcement of any meeting or of a receiver being appointed? Is The Mobile Outlet still trading? Their web site is still up and appears to be available at the time I post here.

Having rad through i still dont understand why people cant persue mobile matters for their compensation if they are the parent company
  • Hi davcohen,
its Mobile Matters who are in administration (TMO are just a trading name of MM), and people can pursue them, but it's unlikely that any such quest would be very successful, bearing in mind the number of claimants...and MM's apparant lack of assets....
  • well thanks for explaining that to me, everyone says keep reading previous posts but alot contradicts itself so kind of hard to make out what the best plan of action is

I guess the only thing to do is sit and wait, although people should be a bit more sympathetic to others we are all here on this forum specifically to help each other save money so people posting up saying that the loss is not important what are you doing here lol??
  • dav,
losing money is ALWAYS important.....in my view anyway

    Rose,

Sorry to hear that your battle continues; thought we'd got it all sorted for you last year.

You'll understand the TMO situation if you've been reading the thread but if you now need a new LG Chocolate for your son, you can get one for £12 total (free 'phone, 12 month contract, 12 x 99p, 200m/200t on CPW O2) from e2save if you act fast. Offer ends 9:00 am Monday, so you'd need to act fast!

Worth it just for the SIM, probably: if his TMO 'phone is unlocked you could flog the new one on eBay!

Hope it works out for you (both) and that you don't lose too much.

I feel that in the current circumstances the people who have nothing better to say than you should have known or it was a bet etc etc should save their comments. They are not helpful.

Those who were explaining to people the things they hadn’t grasped which had led them to lose their money unexpectedly were doing so with the objective of preventing the same thing happening again.

If you don’t find that helpful and would have preferred to have remained in ignorance, possibly to lose another £500 on your next ‘phone, that’s fine - but there are others who do appreciate having it explained to them in clear and simple terms because they can’t afford to lose another £500 on their next ‘phone and are anxious to find out how to avoid making the same mistake again.

For you to say that you don’t want them to be given that information because it’s of no help or interest to you personally is to be extremely selfish.

The name and the purpose of this site is money-saving, not feelings-saving. That priority is particularly pertinent when the latter conflicts with the former.

A bank that protects customers??? Where would you find one of those, in this country???

Your bank is your enemy, at least in Britain; it permits you to become a customer only because it wants to make money out of you. It doesn't give a toss about you or your welfare.

Northern Rock AKA The British Taxpayer.
