  • As stated by the director in a recent newspaper article, The Mobile Outlet were working on '40% redemption' model assuming that 60% of their customers would fail to meet their terms and conditions, whereas in fact we are more astute than they give us credit for! This makes sense as myself and a friend received 2 of our 5 cash backs with no problem, but then failed to receive any more.

I am disappointed that I am out of pocket by £216, but when I divide the actual cost of what I have paid for a 12 month contract, it works out to be £18 a month which is reasonable.

I am annoyed that Trading Standards or similar did not shut this company down earlier, and that the directors won't face any punishments and will probably start new companies where they will continue taking peoples' hard earned money.

It is frustrating to feel conned, but I do feel that some people on here are taking things a bit too seriously, come on guys, lighten up a bit! Life is too short to spend it complaining.
Moral of the story - When something sounds too good to be true it usually is.

And that's the problem, thanks to sites like this and members who are well genned up and helping others who don't fully understand, more and more people have successfully claimed their cashback, whether through advice to sue, LBA or simply how to claim properly in the first place.
Without sites like this and the help and advice offered the figure may have been around "40% redemption" and 40% would be happy - but 60% wouldn't.
Maybe without the help, these companies or some crooks even would still be trading and raking in thousands of £'s and lots of 12 months free deals would still be available. Perhaps well informed members of this site have lost out by helping others to claim successfully, because what is sure, it's not geared up for 100% redemption, or indeed anywhere near it. It simply isn't sustainable - how can it be?????????????????
As stated, it's a GAMBLE, not a CERTAINTY.

"As for the facts, they never paid out willingly so I'm amazed people now come on to complain that this is a new thing with them. "

The above was posted my mobilejunkie!!

How stupid are you!! or should I say how caring!! You obviously dont have student aged kids!! you look at the offers from your point of view, like old!!! I too am old, but my getting on for 18 yr old isnt!! and neither were the 18 year olds who fell for the offer last year!!

This was a new thing to them and the fraudsters and they were!! obused old and they really abused the young!!!!!!

Students are really skint and looking for genuine offers!! The like of CNM and TMO should NOT be allowed to abuse the uninformed!!

Mobilejunkie appears to be informed!! my little girl isnt and who is going to help her!!! If she complains then mobilejunkie will state that she should be aware of the T&Cs The kids were, but were!! They weren't daft!!

None of us were, just inexperienced!!!!

Your experience appears to allow you to look down on everybody else??

    I dont think so!!

Your comments do not relate to experience and you are very harsh!! You think everybody should have your attitude and be able to search all offers from the year 2000 before actually going ahead with it!!

I have made mistakes!! I am 43!! I have a good job!! I am not stupid!!!

These people are taking advantage of me but worse advantage of those people, like students who really struggle!! My DD would not have chosen this offer if she thought there was a risk!!

In future none of my family wiil opt for an offer like this!!! I have 1 left with e2save and then I wiil opt for 3 at £15!!

I am really cross with mobile junkie as I feel he/she has no idea about the real people who choose these silly offers.

    Ths person is really heartless!!

I have 3 kids and need to protect them in lots of ways!! This is so easy for kids to get into!! and taking aside the cashback!! My dd spent over £100 more when she fell out with her BF!!!
The government should not allow this to happen!!

Only the poor people or students etc will fall fowl!!

I am one very unhappy person!!

    This has to stop!!

The likes of mobilejunkie:mad: ?? think that its OK to advertise in this way, he(OMG it has to be a he!! )

We all take risks, but dont let these companies take advantage of our little grown ups!! We understand the T&Cs and we can, at a push take the loss, but some are naive at 18 and some are even older.

We should not allow these companies to abuse our innocents!!!

jeppy, the problem is that people don't know how these contracts work. How can a company offer you a free phone and line rental when you are paying the full line rental directly to the provider?

The number of posts on the mobileshop.com threads where people who were waiting for their cashback where people said, 'MS has lost me as a customer' got silly. These companies don't want people who are waiting for their CB as customers, they want people that fail to claim correctly.

I wonder, mobilejunkie, if the difference between e2save and TMO is not the scale of the company; for if TMO sold 100 times the number of contracts it did, it would just owe 100 times more people their money now.

Isn't the difference down to the offers, I am not sure what they were like a while back, but now on e2save there seems to be a mix of nearly full CB and those that are half price rentals (with better phones). TMO seemed to just be overly generous...

Young drivers are charged over the top and subsidise everyone else!!!

My opinion, bearing in mind Give the girls a chance I work in insurance and see the claims!!

I feel that young girl drivers are really punished!! Not all young drivers are wide boys!!!

    Give the girls a chance!!

Its the boys who modify their vehicles!!! Big Exhausts!! Computer this an computer that, ballbearings!! eh!! what?

Please ins comps you know they are upgrading, to the point of jet engines!! but stop charging the girls for their inferirority complexes!!!

  • As someone who who did not have time to do extensive research as suggested in this thread. As someone who is trusting at heart. As someone who entered in to to this with their eyes evidently closed, I am becoming infuriated by the suggestions of those people that I deserve this.

I was not aware of the implication of this, as I am sure many people were not. I feel guilty because I do have the mental capacity to and should have looked in to it further, but what about the others who may not.

I feel that in the current circumstances the people who have nothing better to say than you should have known or it was a bet etc etc should save their comments. They are not helpful.
  • grayme-m:- That is correct, of course, Many deals on E2Save are and were not 12 months free. In addition their phones on such deals are usually "clearance" phones. However, they are now a ftse 100 company and highly unlikely to go bust - even IF they get their business model assumptions wrong. In addition, a large chunk of their income comes from their shops. They are therefore a much safer bet as far as not going bust is concerned. However, I have been consistently warning people NOT to enter into ANY cashback deals unless they REALLY understand what they're doing. Most simply do not. It seems people jump into these seemingly attractive contracts with little or no real research or questions. Like anything people buy of any real consequence, they really MUST look very carefully and research first - especially when it is perfectly clear to the most foolhardy person that they are being offered FAR more than they are paying! There is no way to escuse the lack of questioning and care when that is the case. I spend a considerable amount of time on here trying to prevent people ending up in a situation where they lose their money - but it really is usually a losing battle! Lynsey's point is also correct; I have been acutely aware that by helping so many I am actually harming my own interests, as others who help do too. I learned a long time back though that you cannot help the majority when there they are attracted by the gravity of an unbelievable deal. At least I have helped some extract themselves from the mire they have ended up in.

    I agree with you 100%

Someone has to look after the people who are new to buying contract phones!!

Mobile junkie must be old and wise and unfortunately, feels that everybody should be aware of all the rpoblems in the world and yhou all should have time to check all the MSE threads etc etc before purchasing a phone or anything else in your life!!

No-one especially young people should be abused by these offers and someone, ie the government should not ket fraudsters take advantage of the public, particularly the naive!! ie an 18 year old student!! or just someone who wants a mobile phone for the first time!!

We have to stop these people taking advantage!! Its all pyramid!! Mobilejunkie was at the top!! He/she is happy to goat about this, he/she wants more offers as he/she is experienced and is able to way up the better deals!!

I disagree!!! Why should we take advantage of the pyramid scheme and let those below us loose a fortune ( I did, but I also gained from years of reef phones and calls!).

Someone has to stick up for those who are naive!!

We were all naive at one point!!

I want to start a poll and I want this to end!! I think we should pay for what we get!!

    Better phone pay more
    Higher tariff pay more

    then the companies should compete!!

Get rid of the middle men!! Unless they sign up to a company who protects the customers like banks and travel companies do!!

Phone companies should be signed up to an ombudsman!!

    We need to be protected!!

    My kids definately do!!
