As the article says, the process is highly automated, massively reducing time and therefore costs. There are only so many delayed/cancelled/denied boarding flights even over the past 6 years. I am sure Bott have a comprehensive database of whats covered, allowing the automation. Of course court costs in most cases will be recovered.
But hats off to Bott for taking the initive and spotting both the market AND the intransigence of the airline industry to meet the bare minimum of their legal obligations of reg 261/2004.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Update - Botts and Co have issued court proceedings against TC for both my flights so now they have 14 days to reply to the court
We got to the stage where TC asked us to sign forms for our kids compo @ 400 euros each kid each flight then just never replied to anything else after we sent the forms back to them.......and by the looks of it they are not responding to most claims, this will end up costing them millions if they let every case go to court knowing they cant win0 -

it will cost them less by going to court as a lot of people will give up before that stage0 -
Using BOTT AND CO...happy to pay the 27% and €25 but wondering this...
British Airways claimed extraordinary circumstances and refused to pay out. If Bott and Co successful shouldn't the airline cough up the compensation lost to Bott and Co?0 -

Had thought of that myself but its your choice to pay legal representation, they only have to cover court costs,0 -

The whole idea of the small claims process and indeed MCOL, is that a Litigant in Person (LiP) is able to commence and refer matters to the Court process in a straightforward way therefore avoiding the necessity to be legally represented. A Court would not normally pass on the costs of legal representation to the other party win or lose providing none of the parties had acted unreasonably. Simply losing your case would not normally be considered to be acting unreasonably.
You shouldn't require the services of Bott & Co..... HOWEVER, the airlines do NOT turn up to court, with a 'local' trainee solicitor, they have very deep pockets, and what started out as a straightforward case, can be extremely daunting when faced with a Court bundle full of expert witness reports.... This is when the safety net of being represented by a legal firm with a proven track record of success, really comes in.
So like others have said, it's got to be the readers decision if they go it alone, perfectly possible as long as you have plenty of time and are willing to argue your case personally or you can go down the NWNF route, but you won't get your legal costs back! (27%) I believe with a small admin fee.

Yes I'm sure that's correct plus I think a small admin fee (£25?)After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Maybe a NWNF price war lol
I'm not sure where I read it, on the forum somewhere it was said that they actually make very little money out of flight delay claims, typically less than £100* per claimant, I suspect because of the infrastructure that has to be in place, let alone the time involved going to Court, look at the Huzar and Dawson case, let alone all the smaller cases at CC level up and down the country.
Like you say Bott are the expert market leaders with the experience and expertise. I suppose if you shop around you can always find a cheaper price (lower %) as long as the service is almost as good? More choice for the consumer can't be bad.

The firm covers court fees (£150) and the cost of compiling expert reports (£750 each) if required. The claim process is heavily automated as the only way to make small claims profitable – the firm makes no more than an average of around £90 per case. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!
