    Hi Scottish,

    This may be a dumb idea but why not throw all of your overpaying at the visa your DH knows about until it's at a level you're happy with. Reason I'm thinking this is it's the debt you really seem to be panicking about him discovering. The sooner he's nothing to "catch" you on the better for your mental health.

    You are doing a great job and echo an earlier poster, the ladies always seem to be the ones bailing the family out. Kids never really go short on our watch, blokes (well my ex) always put fags, darts etc first. If he didn't get those then life was't worth living. Maybe explains the ex part :rotfl::rotfl:

    Don't beat yourself up, you're doing great :T

  • Hi, just a quick reply. Is it possible to go paperless with your credit cards so they don't come to the house and you can monitor things on-line? I don't want to encourage you to keep this all to yourself (it's a lot for one person), but it may help your stress levels.

    That is a good idea, That way it is all online and you would have access? no post fear. I hate that feeling.

    Loads has happened here, things breaking down and leaking, mum super depressed about money. I haven't been sleeping just for a few nights so how you have managed - as well as running Rainbows for God sake!! I have no clue.

    Is there any way you can get some of the debt on to a new 0% deal? in your name, that you pay off without having to keep on your toes all the time with OH. Thus putting the CC down to it's normal expected rate?

    hope you continue to feel better

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • I've had a busy week and have only caught up with the posts today.I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.'Down' days are hard to cope with,but you wouldn't be human if you didn't have them.

    You do have a lot on your plate.Take a deep breath and concentrate on one day at a time.You will get through.

    It's definitely a good idea to keep up the choir.We all need 'me' time.

    I'm glad that the diet is going well.

    Have a good weekend.

    Ps leaving your purse at home-what a good idea!;)

    Yay car boot is on :D - watch this space for ££ update!

    AND I was so chuffed at myself for resisting pester power from my children today. We were at a local seaside town and I stupidly suggested we meet my friend & her children right next to the amusements - carousel £1.50 per child would last 3 mins, teacups £1.50 per child would last 3 mins, massive trampoline thing £1.50 per child for 5 mins PLUS an ice cream van £2.00 per ice cream. Potential minimum spend of £13.00 for everything! I would have loved to have treated my children, however believe me, it was easier to refuse altogether rather than give in to one request! They had just as much fun if not more for the next few hours after I'd refused constant requests & tried numerous distraction techniques, paddling in the sea, digging holes and having fun with our friends.

    Swerved unnecessary spend!! NSD yay!
    MBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
    Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
    Bank of Scotland = £2,782.83

    Good luck with the car boot :T

    And great news on the NSD ...kids soon get used to you saying no if you say it as much as I do :rotfl::rotfl: they generally ask once now and after the first no forget asking again ;) in the early days they would throw almighty tantrums but I stuck to my guns like you did yesterday and said NO :p here's to many more NSD's :beer:
    Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200
    Total- £1783.67
    Goal pay off 1% of current mortgage in 1 year. £1650
    EF- £642.41/500
  • I think KissJenn's idea might be worth considering... if thats the one thats causing the most worry, then it would make sense for it to go first?

    Good Luck with the carboot sale! Hope the weather stays nice for you and its nice and busy!!

    Will check back later to see how you got on... sending positive thoughts!
