I also tried using the Norwich Union code without any luck - was told it was car insurance holders only - I also kept getting cut off from them. Eventually I took out the personal policy for UK and Europe for £132 for 14 months. And since they now own the RAC its a lot better than the £99 I was quoted for the RAC European cover only.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

i rang NUD yrsterday for breakdown and recovery. i got thru to the Indian call centre and gave my details and was qouted £68 for 14 months cover. When i quoted CMQ1 i was told that was only for NUD policy holders and he wouldnt't budge on that. I immediately rang the number again and this time spoke to an english call centre!! I went thru the same procedure, gave details then asked him to apply CMQ1. "no problem" says he that £34 for 14 months cover. So a big thanks to all who posted o this, i owe you.0

Just phoned NU and for full breakdown, recovery, onward travel on my 1993 mondeo i got quoted £191.00!!!!!!!! to cover the person it went up £100.00 more. that code was also said to not work but even at that cost they are more expensive than my usual AA option 200 cover!
As i have an old car i'm warey about needing to call the company i use thus went back to the AA and asked them why i'd get it cheaper as a new customer rather than renewing with them after being a customer for 8yrs. They matched the online offer with no problems whatsoever and told me to ring up before next years renewall in case they can 'help' me again. So might not be the cheapest but i do feel i have peace of mind with them.0 -
Just tried CQM1 - it seems to give 10% discount0

Hi - you can cover up to four cars for UK and European breakdown at the bargain price of £89.95

I pay £0 for my breakdown cover. One mobile phone and one large toolkit in the boot.
I've not had a serious breakdown yet and if I do, well, I agree that it might be a major hassle, but I think I'll survive.Happy chappy0 -
Hello, all you recovery companies that have suffered from the loss of your recovery work for the police prior to the end of March this year.
We feel that the new contract starting on April Fools Day is appropriate to the day!
For those of you who haven't heard, there is a meeting and there will be action, starting on the 18th March 06 at 10am. For the venue and further details, please email me at essexrecovery18years@hotmail.co.uk.
There will be more details available on this site in the near future.

I had my renewal notice and it didn't mention this, so I just rebooked it online.
I need to renew my Autonational breakdown ... has anyone else done the above and got away with it?

I'm insured with NUD and just phoned for a quote on breakdown cover. Immediately got through to the Indian call centre others have mentioned and was quoted £96 for for my Audi A6 for homestart / roadside / onward cover. I was told this included a hefty discount because I'm already with NUD. Quoting the CQM1 code had no effect - I was told that code was no longer valid.
So I phoned AutoAid (Boncaster Insurance - 01277 235500) and the price is £32 for the same cover and - get this - covers me AND my wife for ANY vehicle. As she drives a 15 year old Mazda and pays £50 to Green Flag, this is a real saving on an already good deal.
