How did you propose/get proposed to?

Mine's not very romantic, we were both drunk in a club and some mates were teasing my OH about proposing, so he did
The next day I didn't want to get my hopes up so was half assuming it had been a joke, but when i went round to see him that evening he'd been out and bought me a ring. We'd only been together 6 months and were 18 / 19, but we got married 7 months later and have been married for over 12 years now.
I suppose it would have been nice to have a fancy, romantic proposal, but this way worked for us and he's more than made up for it over the years! Big romantic gestures aren't really his style, but he's lovely and makes a real effort to make me smile0 -
My proposal wasn't romantic in the normal sense, but I think it was perfect.
Picture the scene .... me laid on the sofa with the worse bout of swine flu ever, coughing up a lung and no makeup, hair that had a life of it's own and grotty PJ's. Enter my fella with a bowl of my favourite carrot and corriander soup and a soppy smile "there you go love, get that down you, you will feel much better, oh and will you marry me?" I coughed, blushed, coughed again, sneezed and said "yes I'd love to, please can you pass me the corvonia and a tissue" ... that was 2 years ago, and we are getting married next May. Guess the starter at the reception will have to be carrot and corriander soup lol!I do not have a short attention sp .....oooh shiney!!0 -
..... After sex
. It took me by surprise.:)

I was in bed when I "proposed" too. It was Valentine's Day eve and when midnight came I gave OH her card. When she opened it there was a lottery scratchcard. She looked at me bemused and I said scratch it. When she did, the message said "I love you - will you marry me" was revealed! Of course she said yes and we did what Judi did! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
BTW Lottery only made 1000 of these scratchcards, so it was a limited edition for a limited edition - she was the one for me!0 -
My husband proposed to me in the ice chapel at the ice hotel in Sweden on a trip to see the northern lights, it was soooo romantic!!0

My OH proposed in a local park which we've always had as "our place" It was where we've always gone to talk about stuff that matters but we also walk round there quite a bit just cos it's so beautiful. We decided to go for a walk through there before going for a meal out (the meal I knew about) Next thing I know he's started our song playing on his mobile and dropped down on one knee with ring in hand.
There wasn't a soul to be seen anywhere near and the sun was just beginning to set. IT was perfect.Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:0 -

My (ex) fiance came home, off !!!!!! out of his face, at 6:30am, on the morning of my birthday and so I wouldn't shout at him asked me to marry him, no ring was given. I picked my own when out shopping with my mum. Needless to say it never lasted.0

We were in Barcelona for a week long conference, the conference was tough so at my suggestion we decided to change our flights and stay for a long weekend so we could see some of Barcelona as in the week we had only seen airport/hotel/conference centre and restaurants
We went out for dinner, and I proposed in a little square in the gothic quarter, amazingly she said yes.0 -
I was 21 and 7 months pregnant. He was on leave for 3 weeks from the forces. 'Are we getting married then or what' was the question! That was on the Friday, we married the following Wednesday. I went into hospital the following Monday (pregnancy complications) and he went back overseas. That was 35 years ago. It's not the engagement, or the wedding that's important, it's the marriage!0
