I got my hubby a present of a weekend in Rome for Christmas, dressed as a sexy santa and ran outside Christmas morning and knocked on the door. When he opened I said 'Pizza delivery' and gave him a pizza box - he fell about laughing so much, it took ages for him to find the flight tickets in the box!
We walked Rome for blooming ages trying to find the Trevi Fountain, eventually we did and he bought us ice creams and sat on the steps to eat them.
He took ages............... normally scoffs it down in one!
He then turned to me on the steps on one knee, and took my hand and said 'i guess you've always wondered how I would propose' - and then proposed (I've not told anyone what he said when he propsed - I'm sentimental and just think it's lovely to have that bit between us two) and he then gave me a ring he had made from the cone of his cornetto which he'd been nibbling.........Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I got proposed to in a helicopter over the Empire State building!
He'd even typed it in a note just in case I couldn't hear him over the engine. I had wondered why he was so nervous about going up in a helicopter and he kept pestering the guards if he could take his camera up and video recorder up.
I get a warm glow every time I think about it.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Seems most people have a ring instantly but i wouldnt want to be responsable for whats on her hand for the rest of her days!!
No, he didn't have a ring. He wanted me to get the fun of choosing one and he was right; it was brilliant going and choosing together.
We did, however, go straight into the next little jewellery shop in Prague and buy a cheap garnet ring for me to wear in the meantimethat ring was almost as special to me as my real engagement ring (until it got stolen

I guess this answers my question from your other thread Ajax - every Wednesday and a wardrobe full of outfits it clearly is!:rotfl:

My hubby proposed to me at the top of one of the Cuillin mountains in Scotland. He chose that as the particular mountain is said to have one of the most beautiful views in the world. And it was :-)
We are outdoor people, so was perfect for us. What does your girlfriend find beautiful or breathtaking? and maybe think of an idea from there.0 -
My husband proposed to me in a pub car park.
We will be married 32 years in August.
He didn't seek my dads permission as I was an adult, and I chose my own ring.
If you want to ask her to marry you just ask. The question is more important than grand romantic gestures.

After 5 years of 'discussions' I complained that marriage wasn't something that could be compromised - we either did it or we didn't. He said 'I suppose we could look into it'.0

Pukkamum said, yes please.
It was lovelier than it sounds he was all coy and boyish and I turned all girly and giggly.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0
