It was decided our families hadn't really all met together (due to geography) despite us being together some time so a big meet up of most the families on both sides was engineered by me...

Earlier in the day I went to 'fill up the car' but was actually collecting a big bouquet and hiding it in the boot.

During the meal I asked my wife-to-be to come out to the car to with me as I needed to discuss something.

Took the flowers out and she assumed they were for a family member for some occasion.

Took her by complete surprise by going down on one knee and asking her to be my wife.

(yes I did go down on one knee, as far as I am concerned she could have had her pick of 1000's of men so was doing me a big honour agreeing to marry an ugly bloke like me, I wasn't taking any chances!!! :rotfl:)

We then went inside and told the family, my father in law explained 'well about time!' which was reassuring and then the party really started.

Family is so important to both of us, can't imagine not sharing it with them.

My boyfriend proposed on the 26th last month!!
We were on holiday in spain and previously discussed how we both wanted to get up and go to the beach to see the sunrise....
So we got up on the 26th, started walking out the villa then he says...
'Oh !!!!!! i forgot the camera, brb!' *He runs back to the villa*
We then continue to the beach, i propose we have a photo of us both, so he sets the camera on a rock on 'timer'.
He saunters over to position with me telling him to hurry up!! i ask how long the timer is he says '10 seconds' i then say 'wow thats a long ten seconds'...
Then he gets down on one knee and proposes
The camera was on video record.......!!!!

I have ordered a ring on etsy as we previously discussed that i wanted to choose my own ring, so he presented me with a token ring.
I'm only 21, but we have been together for over 6 years and plan to marry in the next 3!

Know how you feel, feels like you are young compared to most folk tying the knot but even though we are early 20's we have had our partners 5 or 6 years. We are away abroad next month so I'm considering asking when we are away. Would round off a great year and it would still only be start of September when we got back!

    The sex, or the proposal?

Our 4th anniversary, outside the pub we met in. I turned to say something to him and he'd got down on one knee in the middle of the street! He chose the ring, which was perfect as I'm not a jewellery person and he had chose fantastically.

I had spotted a ring in a jewellers and pointed it out to him, next time I walked past the shop I looked but it was gone. Couple of weeks later I'd been in his house and he was behaving very strangely so I decided to go home - to be honest I thought he was going to dump me! He walked me out to the car, it was raining so I was just going to jump in and drive away but he took me by the arm and said "Will you do me a favour?" I asked what it was and the next thing I knew he was on one knee, in the rain with a ring in his hand and he asked me to marry him. I was so stunned I replied "Get up you big lug, you'll get wet." But he refused to get up so I said alright! The car park of a housing estate was not the most romantic of locations but it still makes me smile 14 years on!

My DH was on a business trip in the US, he phoned and while we were chatting, he proposed. When he got back, he asked my Dad's permission, got down on one knee & asked me again then we went out to choose my ring.

We'd been together 6 weeks at the time of the proposal and have been married 26 years in September :D

It was all a big mistake really, we'd been in the pub all night and i was three-sheets-to-the-wind and i could hardly move, so i said to her ..... will you carry me, but she misheard.
