Practically all the threads I have read on here about parking in disabled spaces have posters almost apoplectic with rage if members of the general public ask for proof of entitlement i.e. asking to see current BB.

A random member of the public has no right whatsoever to demand proof from any disabled person.

And when you see the ignorance and deception of nozzles like Looker above, yuo can see why - isn't it better that determining disability is left to those with training and legal authority to do so?

Make you story clear. Earlier you stated that you were not disabled. You might have mobility issues, but clearly not severe enough for a blue badge, so if you were without your Brother in law, you would have had to park somewhere else anyway.

So you have gone from making the assumption in your earlier post that I "do not have an issue with mobility" to "you might have an issue with mobility".

You were the one making the point about people making assumptions. I made it clear I do not have a disability. You jumped to the conclusion I do not have ANY issues with mobility. You were earlier attacking me for making similar assumptions. Slightly hypocritical to say the least.

Of course I would have parked elsewhere were I on my own. The point of the post was that I WAS with someone with a badge. Keep up!

However you try to use semantics to justify your position, my point remains: You made an assumption about this mother when you could have dropped your brother and park elsewhere yourself, whether you have mobility issues being irrelevant anyway since YOU don't have a blue badge.

No - Your assumption says everything about your shocking disablism though.

    FYI:

So that's the end of it! - Blue Badges are not and have never been valid on private property.

So apologise for trying to mislead people and save at least some dignity please!

So why did you apply for a blue badge if you don’t think you need one?

I suggest you go to your nearest Tesco supermarket which is on private land and park in one of their disabled spaces without displaying a blue badge and see what happens.

I did that on Tuesday....nothing happened.

To clarify though, I DO have a wheelchair/crutches and I DO have a disability (well several of them) but no blue badge...not through refusal or not meeting criteria, just not got round to getting one due as things have been a bit eek with youngest and have had no time to apply and before that, complete denial I had a problem and that I would magically get better!

However, I only ever use a disabled space if my joints are really really bad and movement, even to my wheelchair from the car seat is difficult, so requiring the extra space to fit the chair by the door. The rest of the time I use a normal space and hobble to the back of the car to the wheelchair.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I've badly needed one for the last couple of years! - However, I'm in a catch-22 situation where getting treatment that may somewhat improve one severe movement-imparing and disabling condition is being hampered by another equality-act recognised condition.

So it dosen't fit the rather narrow and overly clear-cut list of conditions that councils now use to issue badges. Medics and discretion were stepped-back from the process a few years ago - their input is now secondary/supporting and not always heeded.

So until they finally decide to operate, with either success or failure, I keep getting knocked-back on the "You may respond to surgery" line but more than three years down the line from my "this will not be geting better" diagnosis, I'm still waiting. I could have gone through one full cycle of badge-issue and re-assessment already.

So I've had to narrow my horizons, adapt my lifestyle and activity considerably to cope with only being able to move a few feet without agony and as far as access goes, I may be excluded from legit disabled provision on-street and in public car parks but as I'm fully compliant with disability under the Equality Act I make use of the appropriate reasonable adjustments on private property.

And a hell of a lot of other disabled people are stuck in just this position - Just how many has come as quite a surprise to me!

So yes, my blood does tend to boil when ignorant, have-a-go knob-ends decide to use some specious definition/proof of disability argument to try and deny me (or others) access.

Why not re-apply for a blue badge it’s all changed now,

If you are not on DLA/PIP high rate mobility you are sent for a Atos medical. This is to weed out ignorant have-a-go knob-ends and only issue blue badges to genuine disabled people who have satisfied the medical test.

You must be extremely stupid or extremely naive if you think ATOS are capable of any sort of efficiency in testing.

I suggest you read your own post again and familiarise yourself with the fact that you were the one who brought up the point of whether I may or may not have an issue with mobility.

No need to keep pointing out I do not have a blue badge, I already knew that as well!

As for justifying my position, I have absolutely no need to justify my position to you. I know what I saw and am satisfied with my subsequent conclusion.:)
