Selfish and ignorant...

.....took my brother in law to doctors today. Woman in range rover with two kids beat me to the last disabled space. Brother in law has badge, can hardly walk and unsteady on feet. Asked her if I could please have the space very politely and she told me there was nowhere else she could park. I informed her it was a disabled space and the person with me needed it. She then claimed she was disabled, grabbed a blue badge clock ( not the badge itself) from her car and chucked it on the dashboard and she and her kids ran into the doctors.

I am truly shocked that anyone can be that selfish. What a terrible example to set for her kids!!

Perhaps she did have a legitimate BB although I know this won't fit your agenda. Perhaps she was completely entitled to use the space.

Doesn't sound like it as she didn't display a blue badge and she and her kids RAN into the doctor's!:(

But you don't know and neither does the OP. I guess they have some illness or they wouldn't be visiting the doctor.

I don't have an "agenda". Merely a need for the disabled space in order to make life just a little easier for someone with a disability!

Anyone who can run is not in need of a blue badge. That much is obvious.

If she did have a legitimate blue badge, which she blatantly did not (the clock is NOT a blue badge) then she would know to put the whole badge on display.

A blue badge is for people with limited mobility. She admitted at first she parked there because there was nowhere else to park.

She had taken her kids for their vaccinations. That is not a disability!!

I'm afraid Range Rover lady's attitude is typical of so many people today. ME ME ME

You were brave to remonstrate. She could have hit you!

Can you clarify if your doc's car park is a public or private space? This is important.

I know someone who has a blue badge for her child with epilepsy. The child does not normally have limited mobility. How on earth do you know why they were visiting the GP? Were you eavesdropping? BTW what has the car she was driving got to do with it? Now you wouldn't be stereotyping would you?
  • They did not display a valid blue badge - therefore they were not allowed to use the space and were being entirely selfish.

Doctors /medical practices these days tend to be on private land, so blue badge schemes are not valid.

Any one can park in a marked out disabled space on private land.
I would not, but many will!

You do not have to have a blue badge if you are disabled.

It is the belief of the general public 90+ % of cars showing disabled badges are not being driving with the actual disabled person on board.

And as other posters have said you do not have to be obviously disabled to be actually disabled.

So perhaps mother in her crappy car with children, or would it make a difference if it was a range rover rushing into doctors had valid reason??
