Anyone who can run is not in need of a blue badgeA blue badge is for people with limited mobility.
Those 2 statements are red rags to a bull on this forum. I await the responses that they will generate. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Were you eavesdropping? BTW what has the car she was driving got to do with it? Now you wouldn't be stereotyping would you?
I repeat, she did NOT have a valid blue badge (or any badge at all for that matter) , a clock is not a blue badge.
Maybe the next time the nurse stands at the front of the surgery and asks in a very loud voice if anyone is there for child vaccinations I should pre empt it and cover my ears!
Interesting that you feel the need to dissect my post with a fine tooth comb merely for the sake of remonstrating with me on my political correctness score! I think that says more about you than me!
I am not disabled myself and would never dream of using one of these spaces for my own purpose. Life is difficult enough for anyone with a disability and I detest the way some people seem to resent any special treatment someone may get to help make their lives just a little easier. This person did not have a blue badge, if she had, she would have displayed it ( and would certainly have known that the clock part is not the badge).0 -

I have no desire to offend anyone and if those comments have then I take them back and apologise. However, I do get angry when people take advantage and abuse schemes like the blue badge facility. I honestly thought blue badges were for people who have problems walking far.0 -
I find the double standards on this board surrounding blue badges and disabled parking spaces laughable.
High dudgeon from many posters if they are asked if they have a BB when parking in disabled spaces, suggestions that no one except a proper parking warden has the right to question anyone, much talk of hidden disabilities etc. Yet no one has suggested to the OP that he had no right to question anyone.0 -
The whole attitude of "if you can walk (or run) at a given moment you aren't disabled " displayed by the OP shows they have no understanding of disabilities in general. As they are someone who was in a position of helping another disabled person-even if they aren't a proper carer doing it on a regular basis (they don't specify) it shows how far we still need to go as a society.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

You must display a current blue badge when parking in any marked disabled space whether it’s on private land or not.
Police and traffic wardens have the power to question anyone not displaying a current blue badge in a marked disabled space on any council land.(Up to a £1000 pound fine)
On private land the owner of the land can also prosecute anyperson not displaying a current blue badge in a marked disabled space on his land.0 -

Complete and utter rubbish!
The Blue Badge scheme does not apply on private property and its the landowner who is going to be liable for prosecution if they discriminate against a disabled person, badge or no badge by refusing them a suitable space as a reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act.
Also, check the handbook/supporting docs online for any issuing authority - The limits on BB validity are made quite clear.0 -

Agreed, the OP needs to look at their own bias before accusing others of being ignorant.
I have seen other threads on here from upset drivers that have been approached and questioned as to their right to park in a disabled space - just shows there are two sides to every story

The problem is that the scheme is so abused.
I know of someone with a blue badge who used to lend it to their mother so she could park for work everyday.
This makes us question those that do not look as if they are in need of one.0
