Has anyone else had trouble using AmEx in Waitrose? I tried it today and it wouldn't work - they tried two card readers. My mastercard worked fine.
EDIT: Was my card after all - chip seems to have broken. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
According to the list on the first page, there seems to be a bit of ambiguity about whether or not Co-op accept AMEX. Just to let you know, I work for Co-op and they do accept AMEX (or at least my store does, so I can't see why others won't).0

Just from a retailer point of view thought I'd add my comment.
I work in a small shop and we've had to stop taking AMEX due to a) the higher charges compared to other cards and b) it takes longer for us to receive the money as it's dealt with separately from our normal transactions - ie I think it's a bout 7 working days as opposed to normal 3. This might not be an issue for larger stores but for a small shop, especially on a large purchase of a few thousand (which it usually is from customers who want to use AMEX in our store) it can make a bit of a dent in the cash flow.0 -
I didn't know Sky and Boots don't accept Amex. That's a surprise.0

Boots absolutely accepts Amex, I buy stuff there on Amex about once a week, for years...0

There are two co-ops in my village and one of them (the old somerfield) accepts it, but the other one doesn't. Very odd.0 -
I still can't understand why would you need Amex, you can't use it every where.
Cash back cards with 1% back from MasterCard are much better.
What is the point of having Amex?0 -
Only had my AMEX Cashback card for 3 weeks and have found that it's not accepted at MoreThan (Royal & Sun Alliance) for my car insurance renewal, and at The Card Factory. Used my Visa Cashback card instead.
Hmm. That'll make it interesting whether I'll spend more than the £10k in 12mths on the AMEX card as my home insurance and my husband's car is with MoreThan too. AND, I've just found that the TV Licensing website doesn't accept it either.0 -
