I guess people will just avoid shopping with you then - if you can't suck up their fees i am sure you can have no complaints about the customers who shop elsewhere.0

Not so, generaly people just use another card, but then we are lucky Tesco are only a fairly small threat to us, however these days small retailers on the high street have to compete with the likes of Tesco etc who seem to be hell bent on putting us all out of business, margins are already so tight we just cannot afford the extra expense. I'm afraid this thread reads a bit like a name and shame which is a bit unfair to the smaller retailers, perhaps it should be AMEX who are the bad guy because of the extortionate rates they charge retailers for the privelidge of being allowed to accept thier cards.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Hmm not sure its that way round, i think it is more to give a thumbs up to those who actually do accept it or at least that is the way i saw it.
In regards to Amex, they have higher rates, yes - but its your choice not to use them so its not Tesco putting you in a tough spot - you both operate under the same free market principles (supposedly free anyway) and those give me the choice to shop somewhere that takes Amex just as much as it gives you the right not to take it.0 -
Hmmm looking at this broken down by genre or catergory, one group of individuals who never seem to accept Amex are hairdressers! !!!!!!? I really would have thought hairdressers would have accepted it...especially the higher end ones.
Does anyone know of any reputable hairdressers who take Amex in the UK? (Really would be appreciated).0 -

Cybercandy - The specialist sweetshop that import, mostly from the USA (Mountain Dew, poptars etc.) do not accept amex.
Not really many people will benefit from this info, but there may be somebody, at some point in time, that will do a search...

I usually buy in a load of that stuff (US candy etc and root beer, save Hershey's garbage though) but just about every store i get it from accepts Amex.
You'd literally have to be an idiot not to, with that market and customer base.0
