I've tried the big six, one told me they are not partaking.
SSE said they wouldn't do it as it's a back boiler
Edf haven't replied, can I go direct to the companies who fit?
Hi skellysgirl
I'm sorry we've been driving you crazy with conflicting information about a boiler replacement.
I posted some details about the scheme earlier in this thread (post number 673) that might help.
Best people to talk to are our specialist ECO team. Contact details are on our website under 'Saving Energy.' The team's available Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 5pm.
If you're eligible for a boiler under this scheme, you might also qualify for the Warm Home Discount. The 2014/15 payment is £140. Again, there's more information on our website.
Hope this is of interest.

hi all
Back in sept I was visited by the people who sort out boilers for low income families and was told the boiler will be installed just before or just after xmas but these dates came and went the next thing I receive is a letter saying after your recent installation if I know anyone else please quote a code to receive £20 . Now I have not had my boiler yet so I rang the company up which was heatcraft and they told me that funding had run out over the period and even though I was told I would get a new boiler I would have to send them my new award to proceed , and was told to throw the letter I received away which showed I was supposed to have the boiler already installed which I thought was strange . Yesterday I phoned the company again to find out why I had not heard anything and they informed me that I cant have a boiler now due to my child tax credit running out because my daughter is going to uni in sept . I cant get my head around this because I thought it was for low income families and also according to my letter I already have had a boiler installed NOT! has anyone had a experience like this and is there a scam going on with the companies getting paid for installing boilers they have not installed so many questions ??? but no real answers any messages would be great to help me understand:mad:0 -

In short the money ran out around December, the industry has been told new funding would be released with several dates given which have come and gone
They couldn't have claimed for a boiler they Havnt installed because there is no money to claim.
You will just have to 're apply once funding is released again and see if you meet the new criteria when it is released."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
I qualify for a free boiler, as per the criteria, even more as we have a back boiler which is 40 years old. I contacted the Energy Saving Advice Service, I was given the details of a company called Dyson, they did the energy assessment but after not hearing back from them, after a couple of weeks I contacted them & they had run out of funding & so were unable to help. Spoke to the ESAS again who put me through to NPower, had another energy assessment & then a surveyor. Yes definitely qualified for the free boiler, but the work would cost £3000 & Npower would only do it if I made a contribution of £1500. As a sole carer of a bedridden Multiple Sclerosis sufferer, just where am I supposed to find that sort of money?. Is it worth me going through it all again, maybe third time lucky.0

There is no point in applying until the funding goes back up again. The obligations to date have been met so they are in no urgency to get the work done.
The fact that you have a back boiler, you should expect to have to make a small contribution to upgrade the heating system to be compatible with a modern boiler."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

No the scheme has not ended, this scheme runs until 2017 with annual targets. The annual target for this year has been met"talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -
Our house is 1940's and we can't have cavity wall insulation but got the loft done - it makes a big difference!0

Heating company advise that free boiler will be forthcoming ( to the extent that they are recommending it to energy company). similarly with free cavity insulation but dependent on boiler fitting as new flue exit may effect insulation process.
So I remain optomistic........
Only thing I would say is that i spent quite a lot of time chasing all the parties involved so that might have helped the fairly swift installation.0 -
Just looking for a bit of help.
I own my own house and my household income falls within the right amount and I receive the right benefits. However the mortgage and deeds are in a joint name with my ex partner as the mortgage company won't take him off. He does not live there and Tax Credits have done all their credit checks etc and are satisfied that he no longer lives there. Will this joint name stop me from qualifying?
Thank you.0
