IN that case, I suspect you will get about 5 miles out of the £50 worth of diesel you put in it, since it's a Petrol car.
FOrd have never made an ST220 with a diesel engine. They've all been 3.0 V6's.
So, OP, what car do you have?
A mondeo with a 2.2 diesel
Or a Mondeo with a 3.0 V6?
Top trolling though, seriously. Good work. If my time was worth something, I might care that you'd wasted it.
OP said earlier that they have a Mondeo 2.2 diesel ST - 46 claimed mpg.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Its an ST 24 2.2 I did not say it was a ST220 with a diesel engine.
I'm sorry if it looked like that.

....who's punishing you?0 -
I'm 480 miles in the past week and its only cost me around £18. That was 380 miles 5 up with luggage. (Merc 2.5D auto). Wouldnt recommend it in a ford tho.0

There have been two mentions of 56 mph on this thread - this is no magic number for fuel economy. Pretty much any car will be more economical at 50 mph than 56 mph. The slower you can go in top gear without lugging the engine the better.
No way to do 700 miles for £50 of fuel in a Mondeo ST though! It all depends how much fuel is already in the tank, but unless it's pretty full it's not going to happen.
Saving weight will have a very small effect on fuel economy. Driving style is way more important.0 -

There is no way you've done that*. That would be about 168 mpg at £1.39 a litre!!!
*Unless you started with say a full tank and are just counting the cost of a top-up.0 -

...unless you're doing 56mph behind a lorry (which are limited to 56mph) and benefiting from the slipstream...MAGIC!
FWIW, I don't advocate doing that at all...I use 56mph because it prevents lorries having to overtake me and vice versa.0 -
